Everdark Sovereign Fissure in the Fog is the high difficulty version of Caligo, Miasma of the Night in Elden Ring Nightreign, and was released on August 7, 2025. This is the sixth major Everdark Sovereign boss, and it features new movesets, a higher health pool, and higher damage.
The good part about this boss is that, when compared to some of the previous Everdark Sovereign entrants, Caligo is a bit easier. The new moves hit very hard, but she has only one health pool, which allows you to play a risky and aggressive game. As long as you spend time preparing properly in the first two days and keep Fire weapons in store, you should be able to clear it in one or two tries.
How to Defeat Everdark Sovereign Fissure in the Fog (Caligo) in Elden Ring Nightreign

Similar to the original version, the key to defeating the Everdark Sovereign version of Caligo is Fire attacks. The boss is incredibly weak to the Fire element, and you can stun it very easily, provided you’re consistently attacking the boss. Make sure you hit any camp or enemy that has a chance of dropping a Fire weapon, as that will significantly increase your chances of victory.
Stamina management is quite important against Caligo since she flies around too much. As such, if you’re spamming attacks while chasing her, eventually you’ll run out of Stamina. This will put you at a disadvantage since you won’t be able to dodge attacks. Any form of Stamina buff that you receive during the fight will be worth picking up.
Health Flasks are also crucial since the new moves hit quite hard. When you combine these new moves with Frostbite effects, the chances are that your health will never be full. As such, hitting all the Marika Churches and picking up seven Health Flasks can be the difference between clearing the challenge or falling to it.
Finally, keep in mind that levels are crucial when fighting not just Caligo, but any Everdark Sovereign boss. Hitting level 15 is very easy as long as you are defeating world bosses and clearing a Shifting Earth event. Level 15 in Elden Ring Nightreign is equivalent to level 150 in the original Elden Ring game. This means you are missing out on a significant amount of power if you don’t strive for the maximum level.
The Shifting Earth event called Noklateo, The Shrouded City, is a very good pick-up before this fight. It’s because there are quite a few bosses inside the event arena that reward a lot of runes and allow you to hit level 15. Additionally, you get access to the Naturalborn of the Void boss, which, upon defeating, grants a special power that revives you with full health when your party falls, allowing you to play aggressively.
Everdark Sovereign Fissure in the Fog (Caligo) Moveset in Elden Ring Nightreign

Caligo didn’t receive as many new moves when compared to some of the other Everdark Sovereign bosses. Caligo features only one health pool, unlike Sentient Pest and Augur, which had two full phases. The various new moves that you should be aware of when fighting Caligo are discussed in the following table.
Moves | Description | How to Counter |
---|---|---|
Laser | The boss raises its wings and fires a powerful Laser that hits the ground and creates an explosion. Standing within the explosion deals damage and inflicts Frostbite. | Running away from the Laser is the easiest way to dodge it. The Laser takes some time to charge and the following explosion also has a delay. |
Ice Explosion | The boss will create Ice crystals all around the arena, which explode after a while and deal damage. | The Ice Crystals take a while to explode. You can easily see them around the arena. Just make sure you are away from the Crystals when they form. |
Explosive Mist | The boss will charge up drawing mist from around the arena. After a while, Caligo will release a violent explosion, dealing damage to everyone within a radius. | Just run away when you see the boss charging its attack. It’s easy to recognize since you can literally see blue mist entering the boss from a distance. The damage is quite high, and it can one-shot you. |
Ice Shard Barrage | This move is similar to the Ice rock attack from the original version of the boss. However, the Ice Shard Barrage is even more deadly, where Caligo flies up in the sky and shoots two volleys. Finally, she comes down and releases a longer volley. | These Shards deal massive damage, especially if you get caught in the final one. However, the move is also easy to dodge since the Shards are slow and easily visible. Simply dodge or run away, and you’ll be safe. |
Apart from these moves, the boss also uses her tail slam from the original version. However, this tail slam is a lot more powerful, and it can one-shot you. However, you can side dodge the move, and you’ll be pretty safe. It’s also important to remember that when you enter the arena, it starts with the original Ice Rock attack. The number of rocks she throws at you is also increased, but you can easily dodge them, similar to the original version of Caligo.
Recommended Characters For Everdark Sovereign Fissure in the Fog (Caligo) Boss Fight in Elden Ring Nightreign

When it comes to characters, you can pick whatever you want, since it ultimately comes down to comfort. As long as you know how to use their kit and prepare well in the first two days, you’ll be fine. However, here are the characters that we used in our fight against Everdark Sovereign Caligo:
- Recluse
- Wylder
- Executor
In this team, Recluse plays from behind while dealing Fire damage to Caligo. Any good Staff that you can pick up that increases Fire damage or throws Fire spells is worthwhile. The Carian Regal Sceptre you get upon defeating Naturalborn of the Void is also very strong, even though it only deals magic damage. The only problem with Recluse is that she is not a new player-friendly character and requires some prior knowledge to be good at.
Wylder functions from the frontline, where he can deal fire damage with his Ultimate and any sword that you can pick up during your first two days. Ideally, as Wylder, you would want to pick up HP and Stamina boosts, so that you can keep the boss’s gaze as much as possible. This not only helps Wylder deal consistent damage, but also allows Recluse to play from behind without getting focused.
Finally, Executor also functions similarly to Wylder with high HP and the ability to fight on the frontline. However, the key to Executor is his Ultimate, where he can turn into a Beast with high HP. This helps him to tank the boss, and helps in reviving an ally if they go down. The only problem with playing Executor is that there is nothing to counter against Caligo.
Recommended Build for Everdark Sovereign Fissure in the Fog (Caligo) in Elden Ring Nightreign

When it comes to builds, the three key factors to remember are Fire weapons, level 15, and HP buffs. Anything else you pick up is a bonus, though Stamina buffs are worth it if you can get a few. All details surrounding the build we used and what you should go with have been listed in the following table.
Build Elements | Our Build | Recommended for You |
---|---|---|
Level | 15 | 15 |
Weapon | HP and Stamina boosts, any weapon-specific Talisman. | Any weapon that deals Fire damage |
Talisman and Buffs | Increased Casting Speed, Increased FP, Increased HP, and Increased Stamina | HP and Stamina boosts, any weapon specific Talisman. |
The HP and Stamina boosts are extremely important regardless of the character you are playing. Most of the attacks from Caligo deal immense damage, and you’ll get one-shot, especially if you aren’t playing something like Wylder or Raider. The Stamina boost helps with chasing the boss, while also dodging attacks and launching a Counter. The FP boost is primarily required if you’re playing Recluse to fight Caligo in Elden Ring Nightreign.
