Hollow Knight: Silksong is all about endurance, where you have to figure out ways to survive by buying equipment and leveling up your weapon. There’s no doubt that Silksong is a very difficult game, but if you use the best tools in the game, you’ll have no issue clearing the various regions and the bosses.
The problem is that upgrades aren’t free, and apart from Shell Shards, you’ll also need access to an item called Craftmetal. If you’re looking to add tools like Sting Shard or Magma Bell, you’ll need Craftmetal, but the good part is that it’s not that hard to obtain.
How To Get Craftmetal In Hollow Knight: Silksong

Craftmetal can either be purchased from vendors or picked up while exploring the haunted kingdom of Pharloom. You’ll need Rosaries, which you can easily farm in the early game if you want to buy Craftmetal from vendors. If you’re looking to pick them up from the open world, there’s no specific requirement. All you need to know is where to go for the Craftmetal deposit. The various vendors and locations where you can pick them up are listed in the following table.
| Location | How To Get |
|---|---|
| Bone Bottom | You can purchase 1 Craftmetal from the Vendor Pebb for 60 Rosaries |
| The Marrow | You’ll find a Craftmetal deposit inside a hidden room in the Marrow. It can be found in the lower section of The Marrow to the left of where you find Loddie. |
| Deep Docks | There are two ways to get this Craftmetal. Either you can unlock the Heavy Door using a Simple Key and proceed to the very end, where the item is placed. Otherwise, you can travel here from the Far Fields lower section. |
| Blasted Steps | Similar to The Marrow, 1 Craftmetal can be found from a deposit inside a narrow tunnel. This area isn’t as hidden, since you can reach it by simply making your way to the top of the region. |
These are all the known areas so far for Craftmetal in the game. However, there might be more areas or hidden quests that will reward the item. The good part is that you don’t really need too many of these, as you’ll have enough to get access to all the tools and upgrades you need. Be aware that once used, the item will be removed from your inventory. As such, think twice before purchasing or upgrading any equipment.
How To Use Craftmetal In Hollow Knight: Silksong

Once you have acquired a Craftmetal, you can now go to the Forge Daughter in Deep Docks. She isn’t hard to find as if you follow the standard path in the region, you’ll eventually come across an ambush. Once you clear the ambush, the room to the Forge Daughter will be unlocked.
Simply approach the Forge Daughter, and you’ll be able to purchase tools and upgrades using Craftmetal. However, you must remember that simply having Craftmetal isn’t enough, as you’ll also require Rosaries to purchase whatever you need. As such, it’s recommended that you farm about 200 Rosaries before visiting the Forge Daughter with a Craftmetal in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
