There are many times you will come across a route being blocked by stone rocks when playing Alabaster Dawn. I remember the first time coming across a pile of rocks blocking a beaten route off the main path. I did try everything, hitting the rocks with the sword, performing charged ranged attacks, and looking for some pressure plates to break the rocks, but none of them worked. You need something big to break these rocks scattered around the Alabaster Dawn.
Breaking the Rocks in Alabaster Dawn

You can break rocks blocking your path with Ortrom Solas – a giant two-handed hammer that you get as you progress the main quest. Here’s how this happens:
- Progress the Unyielding Solidarity main questline in Chapter 1. The first of two tasks will be to talk to Penterson at Lumber Corner. Get to Lumber Corner and meet with Penterson. Here, you will learn two things: he likes working with tree logs and a problem he is having with the area. Finish talking to him, and you will be on a new mission, Branching Out.
- Just head south of the Penterson and defeat the enemies, and you will be rewarded with a brand new weapon, Ortrom Solas. Once you grab the hammer, it will be automatically equipped; just press the attack button to destroy the rocks on your path.
Note: This also opens up a new melee skill tree, completely different from the first weapon, Claio Solas. It is a heavy weapon compared to the first agile weapon in the game, Claudio Solas.
Don’t worry, the old weapon doesn’t disappear from your inventory when you get your hands on a new one. You can press the ‘Q’ button on your Keyboard to switch between your weapons or head to the Equipment section on the pause tab to equip your favorite weapon.
That’s it, now you can break those rocks to unlock new routes and secrets waiting in the Alabaster Dawn.
