Who wouldn’t want a glowing flying pet in real life and in a video game? In Seven Deadly Sins Origins, Dark Abyss Flare is a special, unique pet that can fly in the air with glowing particles around its presence. And you can also perform one of its attacks at any time using its special ability. It is one of the amazing pets in the game, and the task to obtain it is also a bit complicated.
Here we will guide you through step by step on how to capture the Dark Abyss Flare or Nightmare Fury in Seven Deadly Sins Origins.
Where to Find the Dark Abyss Flare?

Head to the Warp Point at Farewell Island, southwest of the map, located far away from the main region. In the middle of the island, you will find a ritual spot with nothing in the middle. Here, we must finish a tied-in quest to make a special object appear in the middle of the ritual spot. Here is a brief overview of all the steps required to spawn the Dark Abyss Flare.
- Complete the Hidden Quest, “Twinkle Twinkle Little…?”
- Craft a Wisp Lantern

Complete the Hidden Quest, “Twinkle Twinkle Little…?”
Travel to the Sea Wind Rock Warp Point, located north of Farewell Island, and then make your way south of the Warp Point to the edge of the water. I’ve marked the spot for both the Warp Point and the specific location to trigger the hidden quest.
Get near the water, and you will see a light poking out of the water. Swim your way to the light, and you will meet with a giant. Now follow the quest markers to complete the quest. It’s a pretty straightforward quest; you can complete the entire thing within 15 minutes or less.
Crafting a Wisp Lantern

Now, if you head to the middle of Farewell Island, you will see a table in the middle of the area. It spawned on the spot because we completed the Twinkle Twinkle Little…? quest. The next objective is to craft the Wisp Lantern.
You will need Common Chromatic Powder (x10) + Fine Chromatic Powder (x10) + Rare Chromatic Powder (x10) + Malachite (x1) to craft a single Wisp Lantern.
- Common Chromatic Powder Location: Defeating Beetle or Ladybug.
- Fine Chromatic Powder Location: You can obtain this powder from Firefly or Tiger Moth.
- Rare Chromatic Powder Location: The rare version can be gathered from Butterfly or Gleaming Insect Wing.
- Malachite Location: Crafted from Malachite Ore, found in the Temple of Undying area.
After crafting the lantern, set the clock to Midnight and then interact with the bench or the table in the middle of the Farewell Island to start the boss fight against Nightmare Fury.
Tips to Capture the Nightmare Fury

Unlike the Icy Frost Bear pet, the battle against Nightmare Fury is more difficult, making it a hard capture. Do note, Nightmare Fury or Dark Abyss Flare has a capture resistance of 75%.
- Avoid the glowing green projectile attacks; the beast will spawn these attacks from above, so dodge them when you start seeing those projectiles coming at you. The best thing about these projectiles is that they are slow, so you can easily spot them coming at your location. This attack is going to be a common sight during the battle.
- Avoid the Nightmare Fury’s AOE attacks, as the beast will spawn lasers around its area, damaging in a circle. I would recommend making some distance from the beast and resorting to range attacks to be on the safer side of the combat.
- The most annoying aspect of the fight, Nightmare Fury will heal up at the lower end of its HP bar, so the best strategy comes down to dealing more damage, especially right at the end of the fight.
- The goal is to capture the beast, not to kill it. If you do manage to kill the beast, then be ready to craft another Wisp Lantern to start the fight from scratch.
Once you bring its health down to 2 to 5%, then you can be ready to enter the capture stage of the fight. The best time to perform the capture would be during Nightmare Fury’s stomp attack. Here, the beast will go up in the air and perform a quick straight-stomp on the ground. Once it lands, it will stay in the spot for a good two to three seconds. Making it a perfect time to use the potion for capture.
Tips on Capture Potions: The highest potion you can use to capture is the Concentrated Potion of Charm, which offers 60% capture chance. But if you want a better capture percentage, then switch to Radiant Potion of Charm, coming with a whopping 80% capture chance. But unlike the Concentrated Potion of Charm, the Radiant Potion is not a craftable item, as you will get this special potion from an Exclusive skin gacha pull.
Once captured, the name of the beast changes from Nightmare Fury to Dark Abyss Flare, but the appearance stays the same in Seven Deadly Sins Origin. Dark Abyss Flare has the glide speed of 1250 and ground speed locked at 750. The stats are comparable to the Phoenix pet, which shares similar speed numbers. You now mount the Dark Abyss Flare and fly in the air and perform its AOE Laser attack.
