Moonlight Peaks features multiple crafting recipes with common to uncommon material requirements to complete. One of the common material requirements for many crafting recipes in the game is Dark Wood. This distinct wood type can only be obtained by chopping down specific logs in the game. Here in this guide, I will show you how to get Dark Wood and the specific tool you need to obtain it in Moonlight Peaks.
Dark Wood in Moonlight Peaks
You get Dark Wood by chopping down the larger than normal logs in the farm area, with a Copper Axe. Throughout the farm area, you will find large logs lying around on the ground. The size of these logs will be a bit larger than that of common logs, typically found in the area. The large logs are the Dark Wood Logs; chopping them down will get you Dark Wood. You can try breaking these logs down with the Rusty Axe, the default axe, but it won’t be able to do anything. Instead, you will get a notification about needing better tools for this job.
Getting the Copper Axe in Moonlight Peaks
You get the Copper Axe from the Howling Hammers shop in town for 1000 coins, provided you have 3 Copper Bars (and the Rusty Axe). Ensure that you get to the shop before midnight, or it will have a closed sign on the front. Head inside, talk to Ridge, the shop owner, to open up the Shop menu. Now buy the Copper Axe. To get the Copper Axe, you will need: Coins x1000/ Rusty Axe x1/ Copper Bar x3
Tip: I recommend buying the Copper Pickaxe first, as it will make mining Copper Ore and other more precious ores easier for you, and there is a long list of materials that have these Ores as a required ingredient. It will also help if you upgrade your bag and get more slots to store materials. However, strictly speaking, you can use the Rusty Axe as well to get the Copper Ore.
Once you get Copper Ore, you can craft a Copper Bar by spending Copper Ore x4 with Charcoal x1 via a Furnace.
Copper Ore Location: Copper Ore is found in the Cave of Echoes, southwest of the Misty Shores region. You will need to finish the A Bridge Too Far quest to unlock the region. You can mine Copper Ore with the starter pickaxe, Rusty Pickaxe.
Once you have the tools ready, find the Dark Wood logs and use the Copper Axe to break them down to get the Dark Wood item drops.
