Side quests are the core of open-world games. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced features several of these, both from the original game and a few new ones of its own. While some quests lead to gameplay upgrades like collecting all Ultimate Plans, or all Portraits, some simply indulge in the lore and worldbuilding of naval life in the 1700s – an addition the original game severely lacked.
Among these additions are smaller, character-driven stories that reward exploration and offer a deeper glimpse into the lives of the people inhabiting the Caribbean, almost a throwback to the kind that we had in AC Valhalla. In this guide, I will go over the full details for one such side quest – The Gold Locket.
How To Start Gold Locket Quest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

You must talk to the wailing woman at the docks in Havana to begin the quest. Make sure you have completed Sequence 2 and acquired the Jackdaw. Once you have completed the memory ‘Prize and Plunder’, return to Havana (212,586).

Start heading east to the coordinates 223,583 where you will find a woman crying out about her missing husband. The lucrative part for Edward about her entire rant is that she is “willing to pay anything” to get her husband back. Interact with her, and she informs you that her husband, Filipe, went out with a Spanish Treasure Fleet and hasn’t returned. She thinks her husband might have fallen victim to the storm in Florida and gives you the only clue to recognize him: a gold locket.
How To Complete The Gold Locket Quest

Head to Florida at the coordinates 382, 802. If you plan to sail here from Havana, be mindful of the Dry Tortuga regional fort. You most certainly will pass through restricted waters if you take this route, and the Jackdaw might not be strong enough to handle fort defenses just yet. In case you want a safer route, travel to Nassau first, and then sail for Florida. You are well out of reach from Eleuthera regional fort, so you can use Path Finder + Follow Sea to easily reach your destination.

Florida is one of the “sub-islands” in Black Flag Resynced, meaning there is no proper port to ‘dock’ the Jackdaw, but the location can still be entered and explored. Once you reach here, start heading to the eastern section of the island, to the coordinates 380,800. While going there, you will come across very obvious signs of a shipwreck and a wooden cross with a letter on it. It says the cross was made for those who died in the storm and that the stuff is unrecoverable – not for Kenway though.
The coordinates mentioned above take you straight to an underwater chest, deep inside the shipwreck. Take a deep breath and dive in. The chest is in the “deck” of the ship, nearby a large collection of coral reefs. Interact with it to collect the gold locket. We recommend fully synchronizing Florida while you are here, since it only has one viewpoint, one treasure chest, and two secrets – one of which you just picked up.
Return to Havana to the now widow, and break the bad news to her. Edward is surprisingly out of character here – he sympathizes with the poor woman and her loss, and even gives her the gold locket to keep as the final memory of her husband. You get 200 Reales as a reward for completing this quest.
