While Shift At Midnight is a detective-horror game, it does have a decent story that depends on your actions. Currently, the game has a total of three endings, and it all depends on your performance at work. One wrong decision, and it all will come crumbling down.
I’ve found all the endings depend on two beings: your pet and Clyde the officer. In this explainer, I’ll share how to get each ending and explain why they happen. Without wasting any time, let’s get into it.
All Three Shift At Midnight Endings Explained

Three endings that a player can get through Shift At Midnight are: True Ending (Good), Grave Decision (Bitter Sweet), and Empty House (Bad). Please note: Night 12 is technically the point of no return, so know your decisions would matter beyond that point. Now, here’s how you get each of the endings.
True Ending – Both Clyde and your pet survive
I’ve got the True Ending by saving up $250 for the pet surgery fee, which is revealed at the end of Day 10. My suggestion would be to tend to customers and figure out doppelgangers immediately and get the store revenue up, as it gives you 10% commission. If you pay the medical bill from your own pocket, Clyde doesn’t have to sacrifice himself to help with your bills.
Grave Decision – Clyde dies, but your pet lives
At the end of Day 12, Clyde calls you offering monetary help. While this option saves your pet without spending money, Clyde makes a sacrifice here, which ends up costing his life. In the end, you have to attend his funeral, which is pretty sad. Yet, the sacrifice does have an impact as your pet survives.
Empty House – Clyde lives, but your pet dies suffering
The bad ending only triggers if you fail to save $250, and even refuse Clyde’s help. The net result is your pet dies, and you have to live alone in your apartment with a job that tests your survival every day. This ending is depressing because of the loneliness it brings in a world that is in shambles.
