During the night 10 of Shift At Midnight, you’ll come across a notice about a missing dog. Furthermore, the notice even mentions that finding it would give you $50, which is a good incentive. While the noticeboard serves its purpose every time, this particular one is a bit misleading in my experience. Whether it’s a game bug or not remains the question, but here’s what I understood.
What Happened to the Missing Dog in Shift at Midnight?
The missing dog poster has a few key pieces of information; the dog’s name is Guillermo, a brown Labrador with a yellow collar. Down the line, you do get visited by a service dog named Tofu, but the physical appearance doesn’t match. While all visitors usually end up being Doppelgangers, and human, this visit does raise a lot of suspicion.
I’d highly advise not killing that dog, because he’s innocent (John Wick would be disappointed). Tofu is a random dog gone missing, and you don’t come across any missing posters regarding him.
So is there a way to find Guillermo and help their owner? The answer is no, since there’s no way to call back the number. This missing poster notice is likely given to make you doubt Tofu, since they’re the only one to show up at the store. So, don’t end up killing the dog since it was not reported.
That makes two missing dogs in the game. I believe these additions are purely lore-intended, as you’re also trying to save your pet in Shift At Midnight. Also, being unable to find Guillermo doesn’t impact the story ending whatsoever.
How to Make up for the $50 Dollar Reward?
Instead of focusing on finding the missing dog that doesn’t exist, you can simply opt for traditional methods to make up money. During my gameplay, I worked on optimizing my revenue, and I’ll share some tips for you. They are as follows:
- Improve your shop rating. This is enable your customers to buy more, and get more visitors. This should be your primary goal during the whole game.
- Clean up dead remains, and blood stains. Every time you do so, you will yield bonus cash.
- Catch rats instead of killing them. If you catch rats alive and throw them in the dumpster, you’ll get $3 for each catch, while killing them will yield you $0.10.
- Kill and clean cockroaches stains with a mop to get bonus cash.
Remember whatever cash you’re earning at the shop, you’ll only get 10% commission. So make sure to manage your shop spending as well. It’s best to hold a balance between your personal and shop funds to reach the true ending.
