Climbing to the top of the mountain is only half the challenge in PEAK. The co-op climbing game developed by Team PEAK offers a challenging journey as you climb through different biomes, collecting items and resources to avoid starvation. However, the journey came to an end as the developers released the final major update for the game on August 11, 2026, titled The Final Ascent.
The last major update for PEAK brings an amazing quest for you to follow, which revolves around Scoutmaster Myers. And if you have already started climbing the new biome and are wondering how to free his Soul to get the secret ending, this guide will help you do that. However, I must warn you that this will include story spoilers from here on out.
How to Free Scoutmaster Myer’s Soul in PEAK
Before I get into the specifics, here’s the short version for you to follow:

Scout Amulets: In a single run, collect all four Scout Amulets from the following biomes: Scout’s Tenacity from the SHORE, Scout’s Initiative from the ROOTS, Scout’s Generosity from the ALPINE, and Scout’s Ambition from the GLOOM.

Get the Scout’s Honor: Carry all four of them to the PEAK and bestow them on the Stone Scout statue. This will give you an item called Scout’s Honor.
Commune with Scout’s Honor: Hold Left-Click on the Scout’s Honor, and you will be transported to NADIR.

Free Scoutmaster’s Soul: In NADIR, look for the Scoutmaster Myre’s trapped soul and release it.
Climb Out of NADIR: After the animation plays out, climb out of NADIR through the gate and get back to the PEAK. You can now trigger the secret ending.
Remember, all your Amulets must come from the same run, so plan your climb properly.
Where to Find All Four Scout Amulets in PEAK

Every biome on your way to the PEAK will have one Amulet for you to find. This will be marked by a beam of blue light that will shine down on a stone Scout statue. These Amulets also carry special effects that can benefit you:
| Scout’s Amulet Name | Effects Offered | Where to Find |
| Scout’s Tenacity | Can help you survive lethal fall damage or extra hits | SHORE Biome |
| Scout’s Initiative | Utility pickup but situational | ROOTS Biome |
| Scout’s Generosity | Allows you to duplicate one item | ALPINE Biome |
| Scout’s Ambition | Will restore stamina, highly useful for the final climb | GLOOM Biome |
Don’t forget to bring a backpack along for the climb, as it can give you space to store each Amulet. You cannot risk one falling out of your inventory during a bad landing. If this happens, your run will be spoiled.
Creating the Scout’s Honor at the PEAK
After you reach the summit with all four Scout Amulets inside your inventory, it is time to start looking for the Stone Scout statue. It can be found just behind the PEAK mountain at the end of the climb. Bestow all four Scout Amulets on it, and the statue will combine the gems into one item called Scout’s Honor. Remember to watch the statue closely while you place the Amulets.
The gems shift color to confirm when they are ready, and you will know the moment it is actually ready to be used. After that, you can get the Scout’s Honor. Hold left-click to Commune with it. This act will transport you into NADIR, which is a hidden area, completely separate from the mountain you have climbed. I found this most impressive about the section, as it put more emphasis on the story.
Freeing Scoutmaster Myer’s Soul in NADIR
After entering NADIR, take the staircase leading to the upper side and head to the giant stone hand, which is cradling an orb. Inside the orb, you can see a ghostly figure trapped. And that is the Scoutmaster’s soul.
- Interact with the orb and release Scoutmaster Myer’s soul. After freeing it, the soul will follow you around, similar to how you see your buddy’s soul behave once they die in a climb.
- Leave NADIR by climbing it. The biome has hanging chains, stairs, and anti-gravity bubbles to aid you in reaching the top.
- Head to the glowing gate at the top and then interact with it. The gate will teleport you back to the PEAK.
Once you pass through the gate, the game immediately starts the cutscene for the secret ending. It shows that the soul that you freed reunites with the Scoutmaster’s skeletal body, which restores him. After that, the two of you are rescued together.
After finishing the cutscene, make sure to check your Passport. You will find the Rule Zero Badge among other badges that you have collected. This one will be described as “Free the Scoutmaster’s Soul”. This confirms that your progress is registered safely inside the game.
Who is Scoutmaster Myers?

For those wondering, the in-game diary offers a brief backstory about the character. It says that he and his Scouts were stranded on the island after an unfortunate shipwreck. They climbed the mountain together, but while crossing ALPINE, he stumbled on a Napberry and fell asleep. He then woke up, but only to find his Scouts leaving him behind.
This incident turned him into a vengeful, skeletal figure, which you encounter as an enemy. His soul and body were separated after death, and his soul was trapped in NADIR, while his corpse roamed the mountain as a hostile figure. But once you free his soul in this quest, it reunites the two.
This is by far one of the most unique questlines in PEAK, as it offers deep lore bits into Scoutmaster’s character, who you normally see as the enemy in the game.
That sums up everything that you need to know to trigger PEAK’s secret ending and receive the Rule Zero Badge. My suggestion is to count on your healing resources as much as possible, as you have to finish this questline in a single run. While it takes a careful run to pull off the secret ending, I believe the payoff is equally worth it, offering a satisfying end to the story.
