When you are a graveyard keeper, the stress of the job can easily go extreme to the point of insanity. It’s not an insane idea to think of making zombies work for you. Graveyard Keeper 2 does allow you to make your daily workload much lighter by introducing zombies and allows the player to make them work for you at any workstation of your choosing. It’s always nice to see undead working, doing daily chores around the base.
The question then becomes: how do you unlock zombies in the game and make them work? Here I will provide all the details and info you need to get a zombie, learn about the ways to make even more zombies, and the way to put them to work in your base in Graveyard Keeper 2.
How to get Zombies in Graveyard Keeper 2

You will get the first two zombies as part of the Dreamdust questline, and the rest can be unlocked by unlocking the Reanimation technology found in the Tech Tree. The Dreamdust questline has you making Dreamdust for the Plague Doctor. As you progress in the quest, you will come across a locked trapdoor or hatch in the back room of your house.
Open the hatch and head down to the basement, which sort of looks and feels like a dungeon. Inside the dungeon, you will find a Plague Doctor caught in the rubble. Our next task is to remove the rubble to free up the Plague Doctor. After the task is done, the Abandoned Tower in the base will finally get unlocked.
The tower will be filled with many benches and workstations. Instead of doing them all, I will help you prioritize the tasks:
- Study Table: Head on over to the Study Table, and study Water and Blood.
- Laboratory Table: Head to the flask table and infuse Water with Blood to create Dreamdust.
Now hand the Dreamdust over to the Plague Doctor. The Plague Doctor will then guide you to the basement of the Abandoned Tower, where he will let you have two zombies for free!
If you want to unlock even more zombies, then you need to make an investment in the Reanimation technology found under the Anatomy and Alchemy section of the Tech Tree.
How to Resurrect a Zombie in Graveyard Keeper 2

Bring a zombie and put it on the Resurrection Table and turn on the electricity to resurrect it from the dead. Head over to the Morgue, then move to the west or left section of the area to come across a locked door. Open the door, and you will find the Resurrection Chamber; here we will perform the task of resurrection on zombies.
Now build a Resurrection Table inside the Resurrection Chamber. Once the table is built, bring a zombie and lay it on the Resurrection Table, and interact with the corpse and put a collar on the zombie to prepare for the resurrection.
The next phase is waiting; you must wait until Snake Day, its a uncommon day filled with lightning strikes. On Snake Day, interact with the common table in the middle of the Resurrection Chamber to turn on electricity to power up the Resurrection Table. This will transfer raw electricity to the Resurrection Table with the zombie lying on it. This will resurrect the zombie in the game.
How to Make Zombies Work in Graveyard Keeper 2

You must hand the zombies tools and literally carry them on your shoulder and put them on the workbench to make them work in the game.
You need to build a Zombie Supplier Station via the workbench. Now you can grab a zombie and place it on the workbench to start working, but make sure to hand them a tool beforehand, or they will just stare at the bench without moving a finger. You are not tied to using only a single type of role for the zombies; giving them different tools will unlock new ways to make them work in the base.
Once you put the zombie on a specific task, it will start to gain experience from the task. This allows you to level up the perk to create better and more efficient items. Just like the tools, here you have the option to try out different perks to make the zombie function differently in the game.
Tips to Make Zombies Work
- You can put one zombie at the supplier station to bring material from the chest to the workstation. Assign a zombie at the workstation to perform the crafting; now the supplier zombie will then take the finished product from the workbench to the chest.
- You have the option to give zombies better organs; put them in the Autopsy table and click on the organs to replace them.
- Currently, white and red skulls do not affect the zombie efficiency; maybe things will be different later on.
- Giving zombies higher tools is also beneficial, as it leads to more mastery point gain. Some items require a certain level of mastery point other wise zombies will not perform the work. Handing the zombies the proper tool is the only way to raise a zombie’s mastery.
