Clearance Level 1 (also called the Level 1 Keycard or Level 1 Security Keycard) is the first security clearance you get in Control Resonant. It opens Level 1 locked doors around the FBC Field Office and is required for early side content and exploration in Central. It is an important item in the game if you want to progress, but thankfully, it is not missable, as it is a part of an early main quest.
In this guide, I will walk you through how to acquire Clearance Level 1 in Control Resonant easily.
Clearance Level 1 – Location and How to Get It in Control Resonant
You receive the Level 1 Keycard during the main story mission “Welcome to Manhattan”. Here’s exactly what you need to do to get it:

Progress through the early story until you reach the FBC Field Office in the Central zone. The location of the office itself will be marked on your map. Just follow it to get to the compound.

Enter the Field Command room (the main command area inside the Field Office). You have to talk to the guard at the main gate first before you can enter the compound. Regardless of which options you pick, the game will let you walk through.

Look at the central desk. The Level 1 Keycard is sitting right there. Pick it up and the objective will be marked as completed on your quest log. It is a required main-mission objective, so the game will point you toward it. Once you pick it up, your clearance updates and you can open any Level 1 doors in the area (including several around the Field Office itself).

What Can You Open with the Level 1 Keycard
The Level 1 Keycard is a handy thing to have on you while exploring the zones in Control Resonant. Here’s what it helped me with:
- Multiple doors and containers inside and around the FBC Field Office in Central can be accessed with it.
- Access is needed for early side quests such as Crossing the Threshold (the Field Hospital and Security Station areas).
- Certain rooftop and alley routes require Level 1 clearance to progress.
Things to Keep in Mind
While getting Clearance Level 1 is important in Control Resonant in order to progress Dylan’s story, there are things about the Level 1 Keycard that are beneficial to know.
- This is not the same as the later Clearance Level SR keycard (which comes from Langston during “The Complete Set”) or the Level 2 / Level 6 keycards.
- Level 1 is story-gated and cannot be missed if you follow “Welcome to Manhattan.”
- After you have it, check nearby locked doors and containers you may have walked past earlier in the Field Office.
That wraps up the method for acquiring Clearance Level 1 in Control Resonant. Just follow the story early on, and the game will point you towards it, making it essentially impossible to miss. I would recommend trying out every area in the Central Zone with it to collect important items, as it can give you a boost early in the game.
