Jack’s Back in Business is the 4th quest in Jack’s chain of quests that begins with Jack in a Boat. This one is a short quest in Graveyard Keeper 2 and comes right after the Workshop Hours questline. Here, you finally clear the zombies from Jack’s workshop so that he can start rebuilding. Completing this quest also raises his reputation so he can unlock Conveyors and open the follow-up quest: Give Materials.
This is one of those quests where preparing well makes it significantly easier to complete and progress the story. In this guide, I will walk you through exactly that, as well as the steps required to win the battle in Jack’s Back in Business quest in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Preparations before beginning Jack’s Back in Business in Graveyard Keeper 2
Before you begin the Jack’s Back in Business quest in Graveyard Keeper 2, you should have completed the Finish the Workshop Hours quest (the Supply: Iron delivery at the Town Warehouse). Also, ensure that:
- Make sure to raise your Barracks Defense Power to 22/22.
- Have preferably two squads ready to deploy
- Bring a decent melee weapon such as an Iron Sword.
These will be of substantial help in getting you through this quest. Once you begin this part of the story, the game will tell you that Jack is currently staying at the Town Warehouse. The objective journal will read the following:
“I need to clear the zombies around Jack’s workshop, and then bring him the good news. He’s staying at the Town Warehouse.”
Now, this is another point of confusion that some players may face. If you open the map, there are 3 shield icons – the one that you need to focus is the shield in front of the castle gates in the Square.
How To Win the Battle At Market Square
You can see the battle is marked on the map with a shield banner near the Market Square area, just inside the town gate near Jack’s workshop. Here’s what you should do to win the fight:
Travel to the market location to start the fight and check if your current stats are eligible.
Use the barricades to defend the market square central monument.
Deploy your squad and defend the central monument by placing the banner in appropriate positions. I found it easy to make them hold the top position of the map while I held the other areas.
Survive the zombie waves until the timer ends and the remaining enemies are dead. If you have a sword that deals decent damage, I recommend hacking the enemies away and bringing the fight to them early on to gain an advantage. However, playing defensively can also be a viable option.
This victory will award you +3 Town Gratitude from the battle itself and clear the zombies around the workshop.
Jack’s Back in Business Quest Rewards in Graveyard Keeper 2
After the battle is over, head to Jack’s workshop. You will notice the door to his location is now accessible. Speak to him about the quest and give him the good news. Jack won’t be happy about what the zombies did to his workshop, but this will end the quest, and it will be marked as completed in your journal.
For finishing the Jack’s Back in Business quest in Graveyard Keeper 2, you get the following set of rewards:
- +10 Reputation with Jack
- 2 Town Gratitude
- 1 Story (Bronze)
What Comes Next
Once this quest is completed, Jack will immediately ask for materials to help restore his workshop. They include the following:
- 5 Building Kit I
- 5 Wooden Kit I
Hand him the items in either order. After both batches are delivered, you will notice the following:
- The workshop is restored.
- A block of houses in town is repaired.
- Jack names you his apprentice.
- You receive another +10 Reputation with Jack and 2 more Town Gratitude.
When you reach 50 reputation in Graveyard Keeper 2 (reached by completing Jack’s Back in Business quest), you can also unlock Conveyors, which are important for later factory automation and come in extremely handy throughout the game.
