Minecraft Dungeons 2 – Soul Storms Explained

Once you make it to the endgame of Minecraft Dungeons 2, the only thing that should be running through your head is to get your hands on special weapons. While you have Bosses, mini-bosses, wooden chests, and common enemy drops to get higher-tier weapons or artifacts as a reward, the best place to get great unique weapons with more modifiers is by taking part in the Soul Storm event.

Compared to all the other methods of acquiring items, Soul Storm ranks high compared to all methods of acquiring items. In this guide, I will help you learn all the mechanics you should know about Soul Storm, farming methods, and the best way to get high-tier drops in Minecraft Dungeon 2.

What are Soul Storms in Minecraft Dungeons 2

After you complete the main storyline, the game will activate the Soul Storm event. Each Soul Storm lasts for 20 minutes, and they are activated every 40 minutes in Minecraft Dungeons 2. Completing the Soul Storm event rewards you with many chests, and inside you will find items that will help you create a perfect build in the game. The best thing about Soul Storm chests, they always drop items with 3 effects on them, instead of typical 2. Having 3 effects makes the weapon much better than most items in the game, even surpassing some uniques. If you are lucky, you might get a unique weapon drop from the Soul Storm chest, which will come with a unique effect and 2 extra effects.

After completing the main quest, just open up the map; in the top-left corner of the screen, you will see the icon for Soul Storm with details of the location, timer, and active status.

• Soul Storm
  • Timer: It shows how long the Soul Storm event will last. Remember, a single Soul Storm event lasts for only 20 minutes. After hitting the 20-minute mark, you will see a Soul Storm Passed note on the HUD. Now you must wait for 40 minutes to start again.
  • Active Status: Basically, whether the Soul Storm is active or not in your game.
  • Location: It shows where exactly you will find the Soul Storm on the map. Each time the Soul Storm gets activated, you will find different area names under it. One Soul Storm could take place in Honeycomb Field; another one will open in Singer’s Meadow or Humbler Huskland.
• Chest Drop Chance: Unique has a 19.8% drop rate, and Special has a 79.2% drop rate. No common drop.

The main game is about destroying 3 Storm Generators. You get a guaranteed treasure chest every time you destroy a generator; and once you destroy all 3, you are awarded one additional chest. Focus on completing it as quickly as possible to repeat the farming for the next 20 minutes in the game.

It’s important to note that if your level is high, you are going to get premium rewards after completing the Soul Storm and looting the treasure chest.

How to Effectively Farm Soul Storm?

We have 20 minutes on the clock; all of our farming must be done within the 20 minutes, quickly, without meandering around and wasting time.

• First, head to the area where the Soul Storm event will be held via Minecart Stations.
• Locate the event spot and destroy all three generators.
• Loot everything dropped on the ground and from chests.
• Pause, and then select “Save and exit to Main Menu.“
• Hit play in the main menu to go back into the world and take part in the Soul Storm event again.

Just focus on grabbing the loot, worrying about the weapon type or rarity can happen later, when you are in the 40-minute waiting zone. Don’t worry about the location; for 20 minutes, the Soul Storm will take place in the same location. If the Soul Storm event opens in Singer’s Meadow, for the next 20 minutes it’s going to be in Singer’s Meadow. Once the event is over, the next Soul Storm event will open up in a different part of the map.

Build for Higher Drop Rate

If you are not getting any unique item drops, then I recommend switching to a different build focused around the “Grants % chance of higher rarity loot drop” effect. If the entire set is built around that drop rate chance stat, then your chance of getting a unique drop will be higher.

Note: If you are playing on Easy, the game lowers the drop rate for Special and Unique items to zero.
