The Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts DLC has added quite a lot of content to the base game, including 2 new survivors – Enforcer and Acolyte, along with new skills for existing ones as well. You would have thought that is good enough, but the devs have also brought in a secret boss that you can fight only on completing a specific set of steps.
If you want to find and fight the boss, you may have to go through a serious challenge just to even find it. In this guide, I will explain how you can find this secret boss, Providence, in Risk of Rain 2.
How to Find the Secret Boss in Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts
Once you know the items required to get to the secret Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts DLC boss, you will realize that it is quite a straightforward process. The easy answer is:
- Get the N’Tormat and the specific Reincarnation page. The latter part is really important, as no other page will give you access to the boss fight.
- Activate a Shrine of Descent, then clear out its teleporter event and enter the Soulbound Threshold.
- Defeat the normal boss rush.
- Use the Reincarnation page at the central console to open the giant door behind the exit portal.
- Cross the body of water and enter the arena to fight the secret boss, the Providence.
Step 1: Obtain the N’Tormat and the Reincarnation Page
You have to complete Trials by either ringing a Gong in a stage or jumping down the pit in the Bazaar Between Time. Alternatively, you can also complete Wake Events or Shrine of Compulsion objectives. But I found the method through the Gong to be the easiest.
Pages are random; hence, keep running the Trials until you get the Reincarnation page.
Step 2: Reach the Soulbound Threshold
Once you have obtained the N’Tormat and at least one page of Reincarnation, Shrines of Descent will start popping up on your map. Do the following:
- Activate the Shrine of Descent.
- Finish the stage’s teleporter event.
- Enter through the Ritual Portal that appears afterward.
This will take you into the Souldbound Threshold.
Step 3: Clear the Regular Boss Rush
Once inside, climb the ramps and interact with the Central Console. The fight will begin with waves of bosses appearing. Be prepared; this will be a challenging fight.
After the waves are defeated, the final boss of the rush, Anima Harvester, will appear. Defeat it as well.
Step 4: Open the Hidden Door
After the final boss rush fight is over, approach the Central Console once more and watch for a chat message that will confirm that you can proceed to the next step. Use your Reincarnation page, which will open the massive door behind the exit portal.
Step 5: Fight the Secret Boss, The Providence
Walk through the newly opened door, crossing the body of water until you reach the secret boss arena. The Providence will appear inside. This fight is tougher than the regular Soulbound Threshold encounters, so bring a strong build.
Useful Tips to Remember When Fighting the Secret Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts Boss
- You can take your time farming items and pages before you attempt to take the Providence down. There is no stage-4 deadline for this like the early Threshold skins.
- The Reincarnation page is the only key that will open the door. Other pages will not work.
- This fight is mandatory if you are trying to unlock specific Hallowed Concepts skins for survivors like Bandit, Engineer, Artificer, Rex, Captain, and Acolyte.
- Keep a solid healing and damage setup ready in your quick selection, as the Providence hits harder and has massive health compared to the regular Threshold final boss.
