Pokémon Pokopia’s first Halloween event, Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises, runs from October 17, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. local time to November 1, 2026, at 4:59 a.m. local time. During this window, players can meet Pumpkaboo near any rebuilt Pokémon Center and befriend it. After that, you can collect Pumpkin Candy by pulling tricks on other Pokémon.
You can trade the candy for limited Halloween furniture and decorations. Some of these will help you create a habitat that attracts Gourgeist. In this guide, I will explain where to find Pumpkaboo and get the Pumpkin Candy.
How to Find Pumpkaboo in Pokémon Pokopia

Pumpkaboo in Pokémon Pokopia cannot be found through normal habitats or random town visits. It will only show up during the event window next to a rebuilt Pokémon Center.
After that, you have to make sure to meet the following requirements before the event begins:
- Update the game to version 2.0.1 or later.
- Have at least one Pokémon Center fully rebuilt in your town.
- Learn the Camouflage move from Zorua at Bleak Beach (this is important for earning the candy).
- Make sure your system’s date and time are set correctly, and you have an active internet connection when you start the event for the first time.

Once the event goes live, simply walk up to the Pokémon Center and talk to Pumpkaboo waiting outside. Befriend it to officially start the event and unlock the Pumpkin Candy activity.
How to Get Pumpkin Candy
Pumpkin Candy is the event’s limited currency. You earn it by tricking other Pokémon using Camouflage.
Here’s the step-by-step guide:

Use Camouflage to transform Ditto into a piece of furniture or an object that nearby Pokémon like. Wait while disguised until a Pokémon approaches.

Surprise the Pokémon by transforming back or revealing yourself.

A successful scare will reward you with Pumpkin Candy. Repeat this process as many times as you like.
The better you can match your disguise to what the local Pokémon prefer, the more reliable the candy drop will become for you. Busy town areas tend to offer you more opportunities.
What Pumpkin Candy is Used For
Bring your Pumpkin Candy back to Pumpkaboo’s temporary exchange stall at the Pokémon Center. You can then trade the candy for several Halloween-themed items that include the following:
- Eerie Statue
- Cofagrigus Locker
- Candy Bucket
- Trevenant Streetlight
- Pumpkin Lantern
- Pumpkin Lantern Tower
- Ghost Smoke Projector
- Huge Table
- Fun Balloons
Most items cost around 2 to 3 Pumpkin Candies. Collecting and placing the right combination of these items allows you to build a habitat that appeals to Gourgeist. Once the habitat conditions are met, you can befriend Gourgeist as well.
Both Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist will stay in your town permanently after the event is over. Hence, any progress you make during the two-week window will not be lost.
