12 Anime Series to Watch If You Like Mushoku Tensei

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation dominated the anime scene, capturing viewers’ attention with its isekai plot, deep character development, gorgeous animation, and first-rate world-building. It has also been referred to as the greatest isekai anime ever by certain enthusiasts. It will be important to note here that Mushoku Tensei‘s original light novel did not fall into this cliche but instead developed the motifs that following anime took up. That is not surprising given the tropes that fans criticise isekai for, referencing its formulaic traits. 

A TV anime series called Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation debuted in the winter of 2021. Studio Bind, an animation studio, is animating it. The animation studio “White Fox” has a branch called Studio Bind, and among its most well-known anime productions are other isekai, Re: ZERO-Starting Life in Another World, the dark fantasy Goblin Slayer, and science fiction story, Stein; Gate.” For the sole purpose of animating this light book, Bind Studio was established.

1. The Misfit of Demon King Academy

If Rudeus were as powerful as the protagonist of this anime, Mushoku Tensei, The Misfit of Demon King Academy would be similar. It tells the tale of “Anos,” a demon lord who, like Mushoku Tensei, is reincarnated as a little baby but instantly begins speaking.

He begins attending high school at the age of two months and is even more powerful than his own teachers and the seniors there. He seeks out the Hero who shared a reincarnation with him. The anime and Mushoku Tensei share a similar comedy and fantastical atmosphere, as well as a protagonist who eventually gains too much power.

2. Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World

Kazuma, a shy, reclusive youngster, was resurrected in a different planet that resembled an MMORPG game. The goddess Aqua, soon to be part of his harem who called Kazuma on a mission to thwart the Demon King and preserve the world, is with him.

On his journey, Kazuma is accompanied by Megumin, a red demon wizard, and Darkness, a crusader with her masochistic tendencies. The Demon King’s Generals periodically come into contact with him and his group, despite his initial intention to live out his days in peace.

The Tappei Nagatsuki light novel served as the basis for the Re:Zero television series. Subaru, a boy who lives alone and is summoned soonto a fantasy realm with the power to travel back in time after dying, is the subject of the narrative. He uses this new ability to assist Emilia, a half-elf, in getting back her crest that was stolen. 

In addition to learning that she is a contender to succeed him as ruler of the fantastical Lugunica Kingdom, he also falls in love with her. Along with twin maids Ram and Rem, her host chose to take him in as a labourer in his home, and he now devotes his life to defending Emilia, her dreams, and his new friends from the magical Witch and the followers of her her cult.

4. Sword Art Online

This show chronicles the exploits of Kirigaya Kazuto, a young boy who is trapped inside a VRMMORPG together with millions of other players all around the world. The players that passed away in-game were even actually said to pass away in real life as well, and beating the final boss and finishing all the stages was the only way to exit the game.

In order to finish the game and get home, Kirigaya, also known as Kirito, teams up with Asuna, a female who is equally skilled, and other like-minded players. They also work to fend off the Laughing Coffin, named as a guild of gamers who kill other players.

5. That Time I got reincarnated into a Slime

This is the tale of a tired old salaryman who passed away and was reborn as a slime in a magical and sword-filled universe. He learned that he possessed a talent known as Predator that allowed him to replicate the abilities and appearance of everything he ingested. He meets Veldora, a powerful Storm Dragon that had been imprisoned for centuries.

Rimuru grew in power in the Great fantastical Forest of Jura after he befriended and set the dragon free. They established the country of Tempest with the assistance of the other forest dwellers, and thanks to Rimuru’s might and knowledge, it soon expanded. Both prospective allies and enemies were drawn to this unexpected rise.

6. The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

Similar to Mushoku Tensei, the protagonist of this anime series likewise experiences reincarnation as a newborn in the new magical world. It tells the tale of the best assassin in the world, who was betrayed by his agency, died in a plane crash, and was then resurrected by a fictional Goddess into a fantastical realm, into the mansion of aristocrats. The only assignment the Goddess offers him is to assassinate the world’s hero. He then reincarnates in this new planet as a youngster and begins to plot the hero’s assassination.

He soon discovers that his ancestors were assassins, which makes his job easier because he has experience as an assassin. Thus, our assassin protagonist’s life begins. He plans to assassinate the hero in this new planet by assembling a new squad. This anime likewise has a distinct fantasy theme and has very original animation and a plot. Additionally, the first track is a smash. And sure, the main character in each of these anime has a harem of several girlfriends!

7. Overlord

A highly regarded MMORPG game was about to close its doors after years of success. On the day the servers were scheduled to shut down, Momonga, the head of the most powerful guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, made the decision to stay in the game in an effort to savour the experience at least one last time. 

Momonga found that he was not logged out; rather, he had been taken into the game’s universe when the servers were actually shut down. This anime follows this overlord Ainz as he travels the globe, looking for potential companions who may also have been transported, and figuring out how to balance his tremendous power and lax moral code.

8. The Rising of the Shield Hero

A young man named Naofumi Iwatani and five other people are all taken to a fantastical place. They were hailed as heroes, given a Legendary Weapon apiece, and given the duty of defending the Kingdom even from the recurring attacks of waves of monsters. Unlike the others, who were given genuine weapons, Naofumi had a shield.

He consequently suffered from mistreatment. He was singled out by the kingdom’s princess, who later then accused him of a heinous crime like rape and led to his banishment and social exclusion. He is being followed in this TV show as he works to clear his name.

9. Digimon Adventure

This seems strange when placed on this list, but Digimon Adventure is more like Mushoku Tensei than we think. While there is no reincarnation, the protagonists who are all tiny little children, are born anew. They are transported to a different world based upon the digital communications of our own world, and in a sense this is an isekai world.

Here, they befriend monsters who can evolve by power of their virtues and emotions to defeat monstrous creatures who have taken over, with their own nefarious abilities. Digimon Adventure is a story of escapism just like isekai but except for a harem, there are tiny partner monsters that you befriend for life.  

10. To Your Eternity

It is based on the idea that an Orb enters Earth (similar to Mushoku Tensei‘s idea of a man that has been reincarnating into an absolutely new world, except that for the Orb, Earth is a new planet) and duplicates anything that is in its immediate proximity.Before copying a boy waiting for his own absolute loved ones in the middle of a freezing region, it copies a moss particle, then a stone, then a frail polar bear that is with its owner. 

Following the death of its owner from the cold, the polar bear imitates him and now seeks out others who are like him in order to learn what it is to be a good person and how really to be a human. This programme likewise includes a protagonist and amazing world-building similar to Mushoku Tensei.

11. No Game, No Life

The television show No Game, No Life centres on Sora and his affectionate younger stepsister Shiro, two brilliant gamers who are part of the unbeaten team Blank. They are once challenged to a game of chess by the god of games, and when they win, they are sent to a place called Disboard, where games are the main attraction.

Citizens of the globe settle their disputes through gambling on games with rewards and regulations that are magically enforced. Tet brought them to that world, and Sora and Shiro intend to defeat every species and also challenge Tet to a game.

12. Ascendance of a Bookworm

A young girl named “Urano” adores reading and aspires to become a librarian so she can always read. Unfortunately, shortly after being hired as a librarian, she is killed in an accident. She sees herself as a young girl named “Myne” in an unidentified time period as soon as he awakens. 

The fact that there are so few books here—everything is done by hand because there are no printing corporations, and the only books there belong to nobles—immediately annoys her. The life of our very own female protagonist, who wants to make books available to everyone regardless of their station in society, so it begins. It has a very similar feel to Mushoku Tensei because both of the main characters learn through books at a young age and are interested in their new environment.
