Dinosaur anime is not too common, or a clearly defined genre. However, did you know that two of the Big Three anime have showcased dinosaurs in prominent capacities? Sasuke befriended a Velociraptor in the spinoff series of Sasuke Retsuden, while a whole pirate crew in One Piece is composed of people who can transform into dinosaurs (and other prehistoric creatures). Pokemon, the biggest anime – nay, the biggest media franchise of the world has a host of fossil Pokemon and others loosely or entirely based on dinosaurs.

It turns out that anyone looking to add a prehistoric flavour to their anime beverage may find lots of anime which prominently include dinosaurs. This goes beyond passing mentions of dinosaurs like those found in One Piece, Boruto, or even Darling in the Franxx. Dinosaurs are the main subject of these works, and they are incorporated into every detail of the narrative.

They may serve as the main plot point, but other times they are only incidental characters or recurring themes that run across the entire series. Whatever the case may be, we have made the decision to discuss those dinosaur anime series and present to you a list of the top 22. This list will include both movies that exclusively feature dinosaurs and those that merely employ them as ancillary story devices.

22. Darling in the Franxx

Klaxosaurs frequently take the form of mechanical dragons or dinosaurs. Each Klaxosaur that has been observed so far has armour with brilliant blue accents and a black colouring. The sizes and morphological traits of Klaxosaurs differ since there are four different categories of them. They naturally gravitate towards the magma energy that they consume. The Klaxo Sapiens had a highly advanced technological civilization that lived peacefully on Earth for more than sixty million years before the main plotline began. This was true up until the planet was overrun by VIRM. When the Klaxo Sapiens resisted, a tremendous conflict that lasted more than decades and resulted in numerous fatalities on both sides of the conflict erupted. These were also based on or entirely descended from dinosaur monsters.

21. Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yu-Gi-Oh! centred around 15-year-old Yugi Mut, a first-year high school student in the town of Domino. His grandfather Sugoroku Mut, the proprietor of the video game shop Turtle Game, lives with him together with his mother because his father is frequently away on business. Eight years prior, his grandfather had presented him a gold coffin with a gold puzzle inside that had been taken from an Egyptian tomb. Numerous cards are based on dinosaurs, ancient reptiles, prehistoric animals, dinosaur-inspired dragons, and normal kaiju-style monsters that are a mash-up of different palaeontological finds but with superhuman abilities.

20. D.I.C.E

The action of the anime takes place within the Sarbylion galaxy, wherein D.I.C.E. provides aid to individuals in need. Young children in the F-99 unit of the organisation receive a lot of disregard because they are children.  However, D.I.C.E agents dress in a suit to establish some credibility with the untrustworthy villagers. And when trouble arises, DICE steps in by providing Dino Breakers, a sort of vehicle that can also convert into a dino mode to take on even the world’s toughest villains. 

19. Hot-Blooded Strongest Go-Saurer

A year has elapsed after the mighty Ganbarugal defeated the Great Three Demons, and the anime is set in this gloomy environment. But after a month had gone, the Mechanisation Empire arrived and attempted to colonise space and seize control over the solar system. Eldran, however, is the name of the guardian of Earth. Eldran, sometimes referred to as the defender of light, is a very old being. He grants his skills to three sixth-grade students called Kenichi Minezaki, Hiromi Tachibana, and Shinobu Asakoa after learning of the invasion. 

18. Dinosaur Biyori

Triceratops, Stenonychosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus cohabit a single space. The everyday experiences of the dinosaurs, like working on a part-time basis or indulging in sweets, help them experience and understand life. Although they occasionally argue because of their divergent personalities, they lead happy lives. However, as Tyrannosaurus frequently reminds us, if a meteorite fell, their blissful life might end in an instant.

17. My Girlfriend is a T-rex

The anthropomorphic dinosaur girls are the series’ central idea. It takes place in a universe in which dinosaurs have not only survived but have developed to resemble humans more and more. Despite becoming increasingly human-like, many of these dinosaurs still have their more instinctive tendencies. The focus of the narrative is on Asahikawa Yma and Churio, his girlfriend who is a T-Rex. While the last one is a brazen, haughty meathead who frequently makes decisions based on her stomach, the former is generally calm and collected. Although the tale scarcely elevates them above friends, the time they spend together is adorable, hilarious, and wholesome.

16. Hey, I’m Guzura

A kind of little, chubby dinosaur emerges from it here all of a sudden. He is a red-skinned creature wearing a bow tie and a silly hat. He is referred to as Guzura and is a little undefined dinosaur with a rhino-like horn on its face. The cartoon comedy series chronicles his mishaps as he comes into contact with humans, animals, and unusual things. It is designed for a young audience. He is so lost in human society that everything that sees and hears surprises and perplexes him. He is also quite captivated by his environment, especially the individuals he comes into contact with.

15. Fossil Fighters

Based on the same-named Nintendo DS game, Fossil Fighters is also an anime series. Discovering dinosaur fossils, transforming them into supernatural “vivosaurs,” and then raising them to engage in combat are the objectives of this series. Similar to Pokémon, but featuring dinosaurs. Another thing to keep in mind is that the “dinosaurs” in the series in question are actually vivosaurs. Despite the fact that there are more than 100 of them, each one was purposefully created to be a descendant of the species upon which it was based. The audience should have fun if they can tolerate the additional research required to fully comprehend each species there.

14. Gon

The animation follows the singular journey of a made up dinosaur named Gon who engages with nature. He can unfortunately annihilate every other animal because he is so powerful.  Sword-wielding tiger? No issue. Gon is an entertaining anime where you may learn about the dino’s everyday activities and survival strategies.

13. Gan Gan Ganko-chan

The world of Gan Gan Ganko-chan is full of surprises. One day, a young man named Gen makes a trip across time to the calendar year 2020, when all of humanity has vanished. When he visits the Ganko family’s residence in the Rustling Forest, he discovers that all human equipment has been destroyed. Nothing exists; there is no power, running water, gas, television, smartphone, or anything else. He instead wakes up in a planet populated by dinosaurs and other creatures. 

12. Dinosaur Planet

Operator Misa visits a virtual world populated by dinosaurs at Dinosaur Planet, which is located in a virtual station. Virtual reality wasn’t really a thing whenever the anime was first broadcast in 1993. Even if dinosaurs are extinct in real life, she was able to explore a world rich in history while the dinosaurs were preserved in this virtual one. Watching Dinosaur Planet, though, makes the idea appear plausible when looking ahead to the present. 

11. Luna Varga

In the realm of Rimbell, home to three princesses, the narrative begins. Luna, a girl who is assertive and aggressive, is one of the processes. She enjoys sword fighting and exudes a tomboyish aura. Luna learns about an old, enigmatic force that will safeguard her entire nation after the mighty empire of Dunbas launches a violent attack. Luna found a way to combine her muscular structure with a dinosaur’s to increase her strength. She now has to defend her realm and free her sister, who was taken hostage by the Dunbas empire, using her Varga. 

10. Muka Muka Paradise

Muka muka Uiba Shikatani, the teenage daughter belonging to a pet store proprietor, is the centre of Paradise. Her father offers her a giant egg as a consolation because she was patiently awaiting the eggs that hold the reptiles she is rearing not to hatch for several long days. When an egg hatches and shows itself to be a dinosaur egg, the girl is astonished to no end. The name “Muka Muka” will be given to the baby green dinosaur after it emerges from the egg. Thus began the various exploits of Uiba and Muka Muka, who would go back in time and visit the land of the prehistoric dinosaurs among other things.

9. Jura Tripper

The story of Jura Tripper is of a gang of young sailors who embark on a voyage aboard a ship. The ship’s controls are thrown off course by an odd storm, and it lands on an uncharted island. The boys learn after a series of misadventures that they reside in a parallel realm where there are both men and dinosaurs. Some of the dinosaurs are clever and communicate, even though their race is “enslaved” by mankind and exclusively utilised for the most labor-intensive duties. The main characters will encounter many perils while attempting to return home, but they will additionally come across some unexpected discoveries.

8. DinoZaurs

The DinoZaurs, or Dino Knights, allegedly defeated the Dragozaurs at a million. The Dinozaurs must once more prevent the Dragozaurs from draining the life force of Earth when they reemerge. A youthful man by the moniker of Kaito uses the dinosaur dagger to restore the Dino Knights’ energy.

7. Boruto

This is a subplot of the main story that occurs between Naruto and Boruto‘s main plots. By recovering dinosaur bones discovered in the region, the Prime Minister from the Land of Redaku along with his devoted archaeologist, Zansru, discovered a technique to forge a potent army. After the Prime Minister passed away, they hired the shinobi Jiji, who utilised the Impure World Reincarnation Technique to resurrect the fossils into living dinosaurs that Zansru later deployed as his loyal army.

6. One Piece

The One Piece loot is no longer of as much attention 22 years after Gol D. Roger was put to death. Many individuals have given up trying to find it, and some even doubt its existence. Pirates continue to pose a threat to the locals, but the Navy has improved its ability to thwart their incursions on all four seas: East, North, West, and South Blue. For all types of dinosaur aficionados, it has dinosaurs, people who can turn into dinosaurs (King, Queen, and Jack), and enormous monsters that resemble kaiju.

5. You are Umasou

4. My Roomie is a Dino

My Roomie Is a Dino was an animated version of the manga series of the same name. It consists of 24 brief parts that are assembled into 12 episodes and chronicle the daily exploits of a girl who shares a flat with a dinosaur.

3. Pokemon

The exploits of a young boy called Ash and his devoted Pokémon Pikachu are chronicled in the Pokémon animated series. Ash explores the Pokémon world in search of the title “Pokémon Master,” which entails capturing and training Pokémon to acquire eight badges. The pair is frequently joined by a second pair, consisting of a little boy or a young girl. A variety of dinosaur-themed monsters have inspired merchandise, including fossil Pokemon like Aerodactyl, dinosaur-like monsters like Bulbasaur and Bayleaf, and a slew of body-swapped Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.

Three children are followed as they embark on quests to gather the dinosaur cards that have been left all around the world in the television series. The Alpha Gang, an organisation from the future seeking to take all of the cards for themselves as well as utilise them for evil, is in opposition to them. The strength of the dinosaurs contained in the exact cards they are collecting will be used by the two sides to frequently engage in combat.
