Ever since the premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 3, a burning question that has been plaguing anime-only viewers’ mind is – does Satoru Gojo die? The answer to that question will be revealed in the next episode. But to ease everyone’s mind, Gojo does live, which is evident given his presence as an adult in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Jujutsu Kaisen season 1.

Following a lovely short trip to Okinawa, Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Misato Kuroi, and Riko Amanai return to Tokyo Jujutsu High for the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko, to be merged with Master Tengen. However, no sooner did they enter the premises of the jujutsu institution that Toji snuck up on Gojo, who had deactivated his Infinity, and injured him.
With Gojo and Geto reaching a conclusion that the ladies’ safety was paramount, Geto took charge to guide them to the Tomb of the Star. Meanwhile, Gojo faced Toji head-on. In what could be called a brilliant fight sequence, the two of them battled each other to death, literally. However, the exhaustion from two nights worth of sleep deprivation had taken a toll on Gojo, as noted Geto. This, unfortunately, affected his battle with Toji, even though he gave it all.
Moreover, Toji, who has Heavenly Restriction and doesn’t have any cursed energy, it made his presence almost undetectable for Gojo. Combine that with his excellent reflexes, physical prowess, proficiency with weapons, speed, and battle acumen, Gojo had a tough time despite using abilities like Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue. The result was Infinity not being strong enough to protect Gojo and Toji’s Inverted Spear of Heaven piercing through the barrier to brutally slash him. The end scene of the battle saw Gojo in a bloody pool with cursed insects that resembled flies sitting atop of his face.

After Toji defeats Geto, his Rainbow Dragon, and Kuchisake-Onna in a gruesome fight, he hands over the corpse of Riko to the Time Vessel Association. On his way to grab lunch, he encounters a rejuvenated Gojo, who used the Reverse Cursed Technique to revive himself, at the House of the Children of the Star.
As the battle rages on, Gojo is now seen to be using Cursed Technique Lapse: Red, an ability that he had earlier been unable to use. Gojo then expertly uses the technique with his Limitless to land blows on Toji, who surmises the young sorcerer’s Cursed Techniques and likewise uses a metal chain to attach to the Inverted Spear of Heaven to attack. While the outcome seemed to have been going in favor of Toji, Gojo then uses his Hollow Technique: Purple to end the battle.
The outcome sees Toji with his left torso maimed. Losing too much blood, he concludes that the wise decision would’ve been to flee away after his first fight with Gojo, but his hatred for sorcerers held him back. Before he dies, Toji tells Gojo of his son, Megumi, who would be sold to the Zenin clan in a few years. Surprisingly, in a separate scene that was seen in Jujutsu Kaisen season 1, a teenage Gojo takes the kid Megumi under his care to train him as a sorcerer.
