Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen has been popular for many reasons, including well fleshed out characters that provide diverse psychological perspectives on various issues happening within the series. One of the most popular characters from Jujutsu Kaisen happens to be Satoru Gojo, the teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High. While handsome and incredibly powerful, a peculiar aspect of Gojo’s appearance includes him covering his eyes.
In season 1 of Akutami’s series, Gojo was seen with a black blindfold that went well with his Jujutsu High uniform. Prior to that, in the prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, he was seen covering his eyes with bandages – a fashion statement that remained for the majority of the movie. However, during Gojo’s Past arc, which is animated for the upcoming season of Jujutsu Kaisen, the young white-haired sorcerer was seen with round-shaped dark tinted glasses. Although his eyes were visible through the shades, it remained covered nevertheless.
Barring the few instances when Satoru Gojo’s eyes were shown in Jujutsu Kaisen, both manga and anime, it poses the question as to why he would feel the need to obscure his vision. However, even with his eyes covered, Gojo can combat pretty effectively, so does this mean he can see despite keeping his vision obscured?
Satoru Gojo’s eyes are covered due to the effect of Six Eyes

It’s not an easy task to be one of the most powerful beings in the world, and Tokyo Jujutsu High teacher Satoru Gojo can relate to that on a grand scale. Possessing the power of both Limitless and Six Eyes, a rare ocular-based technique that is limited to the Gojo family, Satoru is the first person to be born in 400 years with the two. Now, one may ask – where’s the catch?
Six Eyes is a condition that increases one’s extrasensory perception so that a member of the Gojo Family can use Limitless. As such, the use of Six Eyes exposes one to a wide-range of perception and incredible brain processing power for the user to bring the abilities of Limitless to an atomic level. But since the power is incredible, Gojo’s eyesight acts as a HD camera even when he obscures his vision with fabric. So, the primary reason for using blindfolds, bandages, or sunglasses is to reduce the overwhelming effect of such extreme sight. However, in certain cases like when he has to use Unlimited Void, he does have to remove the objects obscuring his vision to use the full potential of his Limitless.

A brilliant display of this power was seen towards the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 when an angry Gojo removed his blindfold and levitated to a greater aerial point to pinpoint the location of the enemy and decide the technique that he needed to use. Shortly after, he used his Hollow Technique: Purple, dealing not only damage to the target but also desecrating a large area, i.e., whatever came in the path of the energy ball was destroyed immediately.
Suffice to say, each of the Limitless techniques are vastly complex and require a sophisticated method of energy manipulation, which is when the use of Six Eyes proves to be efficient to amp up the ability. Moreover, the use of the cursed energy is used in such a manner that the Six Eyes user never exhausts its cursed energy.
People think Six eyes just gives Gojo infinite energy/enhanced sight
But it’s far more then just that
His six eyes is what allows to use the concept of infinity
Without it he can’t use hollow purple, his neutral limitless would be bypassed easily & his red/blue would be weak pic.twitter.com/3HsKyXc2Cc

However, that’s not all, the Six Eyes user processes time differently, which is why a fraction of time is processed comparatively faster than normal human beings or sorcerers. This comes to effect with the use of eyesight, which is already heightened due to Six Eyes, exposing the user to efficient analysis and calculations of a given moment for a huge area.
Interestingly, since Satoru Gojo had been considered a formidable opponent with supreme sense, Kenjaku had to employ dirty tricks to capture him within the Prison Realm. This happened during the Shibuya Incident arc when Gojo, whose Six Eyes was active at the point, needed to be shocked in a certain way to make Kenjaku carry out his plan. The shock happened to be him seeing Geto alive, his best friend whom he had killed during the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 timeline.
Thinking back on the Shibuya incident where Geto's presence trapped Gojo, the “strongest”, not only his physical appearance was what made Gojo vulnerable, but his voice alone just shattered him. Geto was his everything.
But again, Gojo was not Geto's everything. pic.twitter.com/cyiev0HEXy

Six Eyes sees and processes things in extreme detail, making them see the other person’s technique as well. It could’ve been easy for Gojo to defeat Pseudo-Geto, or Kenjaku, at that moment, except seeing Gojo alive was enough to arrest his time. This was the cinch in the armor that Kenjaku needed, which resulted in Gojo’s imprisonment within the Prison Realm.
Exposing the analytical capability and extrasensory perception of the Six Eyes user can be overwhelming, but the using Six Eyes to to analyze and calculate a Reversed Cursed Technique can keep their brain active and functioning. While this may be a preferred method, it is not always feasible to use it. Thus, the obscurity in vision, which answers the titular question once again – Satoru Gojo eyes covers his eyes to reduce the drawbacks of his Six Eyes.
