If there is one thing the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom is hyped about, it’s certainly the series’ final antagonist. After reading the spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 251, my theory is that Megumi might be the final villain and not the King of Curses, Sukuna.
Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 251 ahead!
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 251 Hints At Megumi Being The Final Antagonist
Much like the main character Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro the deuteragonist has also gone through several rough situations. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Fushiguro now works as the perfect vessel for the king of curses, helping him cause all the destruction.
This has led fans to believe that after Kenjaku confirmed being dead, Sukuna is the final obstacle for the sorcerers. However, the final chapter hints at something else. Yuji and Yuta’s plan had worked, and the former was able to see his friend submerged in Sukuna.
Megumi regaining control of the body would have meant Sukuna’s end, but the former refused the opportunity to team up with the sorcerers. The chapter reveals that Megumi doesn’t have any will to live.
With this, I am assuming that Gege Akutami is hinting at Megumi becoming the final antagonist of the series. A cover page from one of the previous chapters also supports this theory.
Why Would Megumi Fushiguro Become Evil?
Gege Akutami, the creator of the series, surely has a knack for surprising fans with twists, may it be Gojo’s sudden death or Sukuna taking over Megumi’s body. In both cases, Megumi was hurt, both physically and emotionally.
The foreshadowing that Gege Akutami had provided for Megumi going evil has to do with one of the earliest chapter covers. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 43 titled Kyoto Sister School Goodwill Event – Team Battle Part 10 sees Megumi on the cover page in a pose similar to Sukuna’s.
However, the more notable thing is the shadow that is featured on the ground of the cover page. Fans on the internet have made the shadow’s connection to the final trump card that Kenjaku had left behind, which is “the merger of humanity’.
This shadow indeed seems very similar to what Kenjaku’s final play looks like. Before dying, Kenjaku has also given the authority of the merger to Megumi. The exact reason why we think Megumi has already gone evil is due to all the hardships he has faced in the span of the series.
Megu killed his sister and also his beloved teacher, Gojo Satoru. He fought his father without ever knowing who he was, and he witnessing Sukuna killing people like ants. Naturally, Megumi seems beyond help.
Megumi has also gone through the “curse bath” as well, which happens to draw one very close evil. All of this has been a sign of Megumi becoming the final villain of the series.
Megumi is rescued from Sukuna. But if he doesn’t have any will to live while also holding the “merger of humanity”, Megumi could cause global-level destruction, making him fit as the final villain of the series.
