Marriage can be a difficult decision; that certainly rings true in the world of video games, where you are met with interesting characters from all corners of the world and with different personalities. In Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea, you will eventually meet ten marriageable characters, each with their own wield and unique personality to make them separate from each other. You are not forced down one path with one choice; having different selections also makes the romantic route more player-focused than being part of the storyline.
In this guide, I will help you decide which one of the characters makes a perfect bachelor or bachelorette for your dream wedding in Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea.

I’ve divided the marriage candidates by gender so you can go through them easily and find out the interesting bits about their character that you find attractive.
All Female Marriage Candidates
Jane

First we have Jane, the school teacher, and many see her as an older sister-type character in the game. Her goal is more education-focused, as she dreams of seeing a Maplehill University open in her town. She is also into cooking, and her personality is rather warm and cozy; there is a sense of a paternal side oozing out of her. Her warm and caring nature makes her one of the perfect candidates for marriage in-game.
Mara

Now we move on to a more ambitious one; Mara dreams of becoming the best sailor in the town and in the entire world. She is energetic, athletic, and perfect for an ambitious partner who seeks that out in their marriage partner. You can easily say she is not the one to give up that easily, as her main focus is to achieve her own goal. She is the daughter of Tidewind’s chief mariner, so be ready for an adventure with his one.
Shirley

She is in a band, and her hair color shows an act of rebellion against the cultural norms of the world. Tradition is not the word you want to add to Shirley; she is into avant-garde music that is far from part of the town’s aesthetics. The open and outgoing personality is the biggest factor of this character; think of her as the polar opposite of Jane.
Lorelei

Lorelei is a self-dependent character with a unique personality that is tough but fair. She is a mystery; you have to play the game to know more about her and eventually learn the secret of her rough personality. She is a dominant character, so expect to play the role of someone rather submissive to woo her to your side.
Carol

Carol is what we have close to Tifa in Final Fantasy VII; she is your best friend, and you have known her for years. Setting up with her will extend the friendship to something deeper. She is your typical friend you encounter in many video games, not too extreme and not too soft, a balanced personality, carrying the best of both worlds.
Note: If you begin the game as Robert, Carol becomes your childhood friend. Vice versa, if you select Carol, then Robert becomes your best friend.
All Male Marriage Candidates
Robert

Robert is your best friend growing up in the town; when it comes to personality, he is the exact opposite of her sister, Carol. He also shares some of Carol’s traits of bringing the best of both worlds, and you also have your friend-to-love trope with Robert.
Note: You can’t marry Robert and Carol at the same time.
Bryce

Bryce wears classic, old-fashioned attire, but the dreams of exploring new things are his entire personality. He is also born into money just like Lorelei, but he is warmer and more playful than abrasive and straightforward. He wants to open the town to new and exciting art and music rather than being trapped in traditional values, just like Shirley.
Sergei

You will often find Sergei talking to cats; he carries the title of mysterious inventor, fascinated with the mist around the forest of echoes. You will meet him later in the game, often a great choice for a marriage candidate. He is ambitious in his own field and certainly has a hobby and talks to cats around town.
Aaron

Aaron has a tragic story of his father being trapped on an island. He is now the only caretaker of his two small brothers and mother. Aaron is a traditional father figure to his household and a believer in a family-focused life, so hitching with him also brings you close to his family. Choosing him as a candidate also allows you to rescue his father and reunite his family.
Hank

Hank is not native to the town; he is a foreigner who seeks nothing but to go on an adventure. He has an outgoing personality different enough to separate him from the rest of the candidates on the list. You will feel the energy off him right away on your first interaction. He is the one filled with curiosity and also helps out many times on your journey.
Friendship Progression
Now that you are aware of all the candidates that you can officially marry, let’s take a look at the ways to increase your friendship with all of them in the game.
- Increase your Friendship to see more items in the Likes and Dislikes of your favorite character. The Docpad’s resident directory will automatically show you their preferred likes and dislikes.
- If you reach a certain point in friendship, you will come across a Musical Note icon on the minimap and regional map to trigger the next cutscene or advancement in friendship.
- Gift giving increases the friendship points alongside Happilia Points.
- Take part in many village completions and seasonal celebrations on the Docpad calendar to give yourself a boost in relationship with the residents.
Marriage can only happen after the completion of the main game. Take care of the crisis around Forest of Echoes and restore the Spirit Trees before seeking marriage in the game. Marriage is followed by pregnancy, which leads to children. Currently, the game limits you to having only one child; maybe we might see more in the future.
