Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 takes you through the dark and mysterious Shadow-Cursed lands where the Moonrise Towers stand. Exploring this suspicious place will eventually lead you to shopkeeper Araj Oblodra, who will have a rather interesting proposal.
I didn’t trust her at first, but letting her take my character’s blood might have turned out to be a great choice after all.

Should You Let Araj Oblodra Take Your Blood In BG3?
Yes, you should allow Araj Oblodra to take your blood as it has no negative consequences. She will request a vial of your blood to create a potion unique to your character’s race. You can get one potion for each character, and the effects of the potion will depend on the race of the character.
When asked for the blood, I chose to ask her why she needed it, which made me pass a History skill check. Passing this revealed that Araj is very curious about the blood that comes from the Illithids.
If you also then choose to tell her that you now know about curiosity, she will offer 200 Gold in exchange for you keeping it a secret. You can actually do this History skill check with every character in your party and get 200 Gold for each when you confront Araj about it (if you pass the check).

Should You Make Astarion Bite Araj Oblodra In BG3?
Yes, you should, as it will reward you with the Potion of Everlasting Vigour that adds +2 Strength to whoever drinks it. After getting your first potion, if Astarion isn’t at your party then Araj Oblodra will ask you to bring him to her. When asked why, she will simply deny it and say that she will only explain in the presence of Astarion.
If Astarion is there, Araj will reveal that she always wanted to be bitten by a vampire ever since she was a little girl. However, the problem arises when it turns out that Astarion doesn’t want to take part in this. You will be faced with two options:
- “Excuse me? He’s his own person” – This option will increase Astarion’s approval of you but you will not get the potion from Araj.
- “Just suck it up and bite her already” – This will decrease Astarion’s approval of you. He will bite her and express that he is now full of corruption, but it will leave Araj happy and reward you with the Potion of Everlasting Vigour.
Should You Take The Mysterious Potion From Araj Oblodra In Act 3 Of BG3?
I happened to meet Araj Oblodra yet again in Act 3, near the Sorcerous Sundries in the Lower City where she offered me a Mysterious potion. This potion essentially turns your character’s blood into Unstable Blood that will explode whenever it comes in contact with fire.
There is no definitive answer for this one, as you should take this potion only if your character has full fire resistance and if you want them to explode whenever fire is involved. This effect is also permanent so make a clear decision before drinking it. The explosions from the Unstable Blood can even damage your allies, so it can be very risky.
