When you enter the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will find good loot and a few secrets. However, most of the worthy ones are in the Arcane Tower, which can initially seem like a hard place to explore.
Having gone through every point of interest in the area, I’ve put together this guide to help you navigate the tower and complete the most lucrative activities.
Ultimate Guide To The Arcane Tower In Baldur’s Gate 3
There are many things you will have a chance to do in the Arcane Tower, including a chance to disable the Turrets, obtaining the Chest of the Mundane and more. Let’s take it one step at a time.
How To Navigate Past/Disable The Arcane Turrets
The first thing you will need to do is either disable or make your way past the Arcane Turrets. One way is to enter the Turn-Based Mode manually and use dashing and jumping to hide behind cover and other structures to sneak past them.
However, if you know how to disable the turrets, exploring the tower becomes much easier. Sussur Blooms are the go-to solution to disabling Arcane Turrets. These items disable magic, and since the Turrets are powered by magic, they can be your go-to ally against them. You can find them in the Susser Tree north of the Tower.
Tip: There are tough enemies near the Sussur tree, so be careful.
When near a Turret, ungroup and use a character with the highest movement with the Sussur Bloom in their inventory to deal with it. Now that you know how to handle these Turrets, you are free to explore the rest of the Tower. Use the same technique and strategy you find with any of the other Turrets.

Finding The Chest Of The Mundane
You can find the Chest of the Mundane on the main floor of the Arcane Tower. Just look near the northern balcony towards the right side of the main door. When you add the items found in the magical chest to your inventory, it will turn into some pretty hefty loot.
The loot includes:
- 2 Silver Ingots
- A Gold Ingot
- Scroll of Mage Armour
- A Hearthlight Bomb
- Mystra’s Grace Boots
- Scroll of Protection From Evil and Good
You can also use this chest to store heavier items as it converts everything into 0.5-weight items.

Finding The Arcane Tower Elevator Generator And Fixing It
Fixing the Elevator Generator is important so you can find all the hidden items mentioned in the lore. To do so:
- Make your way towards the Arcane Tower Entrance and head south.
- Open the door and jump down on the mushrooms to the next-floor balcony.
- From there, pick up a shovel and read the Threadbare book. You can find it on the western corner shelf. Note: Be sure to look around for any loot you can find, there are tons of supplies scattered anywhere you go on this Tower.
- Make your way to the south side of the room again and head out of the door onto another balcony. Now, for this part, you must ensure someone with the best lockpicking ability goes ahead. I recommend giving them a shovel as well and equipping the Mystra’s Grace Boots we found earlier so they don’t take fall damage.
- Now, towards the south side, equip the boots on the character and jump below. Ensure you have Sussur Blooms for this next part. If you do not, make your way over to the Arcane Tower Garden to farm some up.
- Now, make your way towards the door and lockpick it to enter the Generator Room. Move towards the center and use the Sussur Bloom to fix it.
Tip: There is good loot available in this room as well, so be sure to check every nook and cranny.
Solving The Bernard Riddle
Before you make your way to Bernard, you must read the Roads to Darkness, which can be found by taking the elevator to the room above the entrance. The room also has tons of loot which you can scour through. Once you have read the material from both of these texts, use the elevator to go to the top floor to speak with Bernard.
Pick the correct dialogue or else you will have to fight it. Luckily, we have the correct options (In Sequence) listed below:
- Or art thou friend, a rescue from my lonely wake
- How can I trust? How can I ever know? / How can I show myself, my darkest me?
Bernard will set the Guiding Light Ring near the table to the west, which you will need to enter the basement. Equip it on any party member and make your way towards the elevator. Next is to enter the Basement.

Finding A Way Into The Arcane Tower Basement
Once you arrive at the elevator, if any of the party members have the Guiding Light Ring equipped, a secret button will appear which will give you access to the Basement. The Staff of Arcane Blessing is the most important thing to pick up here and can be found on a table beside a bookshelf.
There are tons of scrolls and other important loot found in this room, so don’t forget to explore.
