Complete Guide to Modding in The First Descendant

The First Descendant is Nexon’s latest multiplayer action RPG, and modding is a major part of the game. You play as one of the 15 Descendants available in the game, each with its own set of unique skills and abilities. The characters can also equip a wide variety of weapons. Adding modules(mods) to your weapons and Descendants can improve things like their damage and efficiency and sometimes add entirely new effects to them.

In this guide, we’ll give you a comprehensive rundown of how modding works in The First Descendant. Let’s get started.

How Modding Works in The First Descendant

Modules are essential components in The First Descendant that enhance and customize your character’s abilities, stats, performance, damage, etc. You can get modules by completing different missions and as loot drops from enemies. Some mods can also be purchased from vendors in Albion, the main hub of the game.

There are three main types of modules available in the game that you need to know about.

  • Ultimate Descendant Modules: These modules are equipable only by Ultimate Descendants and provide stat boosts like increased damage, health, or shield.
  • Skill Modules: These modules boost the efficiency or damage of specific skills for different Descendants.
  • Weapon Modules: As the name suggests, weapon modules affect your weapon’s accuracy, damage, or stats once equipped. They can have different rarities, such as rare, normal, or ultimate.

Different modules offer different effects and can make certain builds stronger. When you properly mod your Descendant and weapons, you’ll notice significantly better damage output or sustain, depending on how you build it.

How to Equip Mods in The First Descendant

You can equip mods on your character in The First Descendant by opening up your inventory and clicking on the Descendant Module option below your weapon lists. This will take you to the module window where you can equip different mods to your character.

To mod your weapon, click on the Weapon List button and choose the weapon you want to customize. Once you’re here, simply drag and drop the modules that you want to add to your weapon.

Remember, there’s a limit to how many modules you can use on your weapon or Descendant. Different modules have different Capacity Costs. To know the total Module Capacity for a weapon or Descendant, check the top-right corner of the Module window. The Module Capacity increases as you level up and gain more Mastery Ranks,

How Do Sockets Work in The First Descendant?

Similar to the Polarity system in Warframe, you can reduce the Capacity Cost of certain modules by placing them in the matching Socket. The game has five types of Sockets, each with its unique symbol: Cerulean, Almandine, Malachite, Xantic, and Rutile.

When you equip a module with a matching Socket, the Capacity Cost of the module decreases by half.

How to Upgrade Modules in The First Descendant

In The First Descendant, you can upgrade your Modules by talking to Silon in Albion. He’s located in the western section of the hub, in the room next to Anais. Upgrading a module costs some resources but significantly boosts its effects. However, it will also increase the Capacity Cost of equipping the mod.

In addition to upgrading your module, Silon can also dismantle them to get some Kuiper Shards. Once you reach Mastery Rank 9, you can combine your modules to increase their effects and quality.
