XDefiant is nearing one month since launch and its popularity is only growing so far. Both casual and competitive players are enjoying the game and we have yet to get the real ranked mode. An official tournament took place involving pro FPS players and even some devs but does XDefiant have in-game tournaments? Let’s find out.
Are there Tournaments in XDefiant?

No, XDefiant does not feature any kind of tournament mode or the ability to create custom matches right now in the Pre-Season. An official e-sport level tournament took place right before its launch and ended with the finals on the launch day.
However, various fan communities hold unofficial tournaments. Since there is no feature that lets you create custom lobbies, these are held in the format of kill races. This format was made popular in Warzone, where two teams of two players queue into a quads match in the same team but play separately and see which team can get the most kills.

With Season 1 fast approaching in XDefiant, we could see the addition of custom lobbies, but in-game tournaments like you see in Fortnite might not come so quickly. We do know that Season 1 will feature a new Capture the Flag game mode and the launch of the ranked mode.
Mark Rubin, executive producer of XDefiant, said they are also trying to bring a SnD-type game mode called Bomb! as soon as possible. Since this type of one-life game mode is usually used in tournaments, it gives more possibility of tournaments later down the line.
