You play as Aiden Caldwell in Dying Light 2. Aiden (voiced by Jonah Scott) is described as a wandering pilgrim. This gritty, 20-year-old protagonist serves as a brave trekker who brings people news and goods in the game’s zombie-infested landscape. Risking his life and surviving brutal conditions, Aiden works towards connecting the last remaining survivors of the zombie apocalypse.
In Dying Light 2, Aiden is looking for his sister, Mia. The only clue he possesses about her whereabouts is the man who separated the siblings: Waltz. He fares the barren lands, looking for his sister and a cure. Yes, Aiden, unfortunately, is infected with the virus when the game starts. This makes his search and struggles more intense.
Despite being infected, Aiden works towards keeping his humanity alive, choosing to rise above his baser instincts and help other survivors. This makes for a compelling and high-stakes narrative that earns the name ‘Stay Human’. His search for a cure compels Aiden to join Pilgrims, a group of outcasts. Like all the outcast groups, Pilgrims are condemned to roam the ruins of the Old World.
Along with his group and thanks to his incredible survival and parkour skills, Aiden evades death at every step. In his journey, he eventually stumbles upon the city of Villedor – one of the last safe havens for humanity. Upon reaching the city, he learns about Factions, groups of survivors who create trouble by seeking enmity amongst each other.
You see the massive landscape of Villedor through Aiden’s eyes and have to decide how to survive amongst bitter factions. The choices you make echo throughout your gameplay. There are various NPCs in Dying Light 2, and your relationship with them will change based on which factions you align yourself with. The ultimate decision about Aiden’s future is completely in your hands.
