Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 has more options for what you can do with the loot besides putting it up for sale. The new Hideout options make the most out of your gear, as you will invest everything to upgrade your workshop to higher levels. This allows players to get creative, and opens up a whole new side to the game. Since the Hideout features so much stuff to do with a plethora of different options and requirements, it can get overwhelming to face them all at once.
In this guide, I will break down the Hideout system in Gray Zone 0.5, and I will also provide details on what to build first in the Hideout, so you can prioritize the stuff in order.
Hideout system in Gray Zone 0.5 Explained

The Hideout is divided into three parts: Utility Room, the Laboratory, and Electronics Workshop. All three can be upgraded to Lv. 3. Each of these plays a specific role, and understanding all three of them will help you learn about the actual work of the Hideout in the game. Let’s take a look at what these rooms stand for and their role:
- Utility Room: Basically, it boils down to a power source. It’s dedicated to providing electricity required by much of your equipment. Since it provides electricity, it supports the Laboratory and Electronics Workshop.
- Laboratory: Here you will be dealing with raw chemicals and substances to create refined compounds and products. Here you will be making medical products and also contraband. This room takes care of the Breaking Bad side of business or running your own drug empire.
Tip: You can sell the drug to the vendor for a smaller payout, or you can take the cargo to the other island for a larger money gain.
- Electronics Workshop: Here you will have the tools and equipment to modify, process, assemble, and disassemble electronic components, then sell them. Here you will develop hacking tools to bypass most locked gates to gain access to restricted areas.
Note: Crafting is instantaneous, but disassembling and production take a lot of time.

What to Build First?

When you are starting out, you must prioritize what to build. All stations or objects provide a stat that is required by the other. For example, A Leaked Military Firmware will require a stat in Compute Capacity, which we gain from a Scavenged PC Rig. Here, are my recommendations for what you should build first in Gray Zone 0.5:
- Utility Room – The absolute very first thing you should focus on is building the Generator found in the Utility Room. At Lv.1, the generator’s two-stroke engine will provide us with 9kW of power. You will need x1 Steel, x1 Mechanical Parts, x1 Motor Oil, and x1 Dynamo to build it.
Every other station in another room will require power; you will need 1 kW of power for a PH meter, fridge, fan, PC rig, and Signal Diagnostics Bench. A Lv. 1 Generator will provide 9kW of power; taking it to Lv. 2 will grant you 18 kW.
- Open Fire Pit (+1 Heat Control) – Open Fire Pit will help you with heat control by providing an open-flame heat source using your basic fuel. You will need x3 Steel, x2 Construction Material, and x1 Wood to craft it.
- Oil Tank (+2 Extraction & Reaction): Oil Tank acts as a crude extraction vessel. You will need to gather x1 Steel, x1 Copper, x1 Plumbing Parts, and x1 Analog Indicator. Do note that it requires +1 Heat Control, which we only get from the Open Fire Pit.
- Plastic Drums (+1 Extraction & Reaction): The game describes the plastic drums as reaction vessels. You will need x2 Plastics, x1 Construction Material, and x1 Silicone Sealant to craft it.
- Cloth Sheet Filter (+1 Filtration & Processing): Requires x2 Wood and x4 Fabrics to build. It requires +1 Extraction & Reaction.
- Basic Glass Set (+1 Analysis & Precision): A common basic laboratory glassware for measuring, mixing, and handling. You will need x1 Glass, x1 Plastic, and x1 Laboratory Flask to craft it.
- PH Meter(+3 Analysis & Precision): It’s for PH reading for chemical conditions, but it requires x2 Plastics, x1 Electrical parts, x1 Circuit Board, x1 Complex Glass Electrode. It requires +1 Analysis & Precision.
- Scavenged PC Rig (+1 Compute Capacity): A common computer rig made from salvaged parts. You will need x1 Motherboard, x1 Graphics Card, x1 CPU, x1 PC Fan, x1 RAM, and x1 Power Supply.
- Leaked Military Firmware (+2 Compute Capacity): Basically, hacking software designed to bypass the security restrictions. You will need x3 Civilian Software and x1 Military Software.
- Basic Electronics Bench (+1 Electronics Capability): A workbench to work with the tools for electronic components. It requires x1 Soldering iron, x1 Multimeter, x1 Toolset, x1 Power Supply, and x1 Wood to craft.
- Manual Tooling Rig (+1 Mechanical Engineering): Workspace for cutting, welding, and metalworking. You will need x1 Wood, x1 Steel, and x1 Toolset to craft it.
- Salvaged Wooden Crate (+1 Storage Capacity): Salvaged Wooden Crate used for storing tools, components, and equipment. You will need x1 Wood and x1 Mechanical Parts to craft it.
The materials for the Hideout can be found in rectangular wooden crates with blue paint on both sides of the box. These crates are titled Building Material Crates to help you find them on the map. Once you come across one of them, just interact with it to open it and grab the loot inside.
Best Locations for Loot:
- Construction site 150,168 east of Crimson Shield.
- Military Warehouse 137, 151.
- The cement factory in Tiger Bay.
The upgrades, as of now, are very limited for the Hideout; we might see something more come out of them in the future.
