When you are playing as Michael Myers, everything becomes a weapon, and when you are playing as a survivor, every object is a means of survival until Michael is in cuffs. There are dozens of items in the game, but you are allowed to carry only a few; this decision-making pushes the game into survival horror. With the limited space, you must pick the item that has multiple uses rather than relying on a one-time encounter tool. Since the game has over dozens of items, it’s easier said than done.
Here, I will go through all the items available in Halloween: The Game to showcase their uses and alternatives that will accomplish two different actions with the same tool. I will also provide info on different firearms and melee weapons and give you the best one for your journey to escape from Michael.
All Items Explained in Halloween: The Game

This section covers all the items found in Halloween: The Game and their effectiveness and alternatives.
| Item | Details |
| Ancient Amulet | Having it in your possession will keep you safe from getting grabbed or attacked by Michael. Do note that taking damage will break the amulet, even from your party members. |
| Brass Lantern | Prevents Michael from performing Shape Jump and also helps you inflict Blind on Michael. Using the lantern fills the area with a green hue, revealing Michael’s location. |
| Fragile Hourglass | If you managed to take Michael down, throw the Fragile Hourglass to keep him in position for a while. He will get up eventually, but you will have enough time to move out of the danger zone. [You can instantly kill your teammates by throwing it at them, which I will advise against unless you have a beef with your friend or are playing the game with strangers.] |
| Beer Can or Beer Bottle | A consumable item that lowers the Fear buildup. You can also throw the can at Michael to stagger him, as a last-resort option. Beer Bottle, once broken, can be used as a weapon. [Intoxicates the player with blurry vision and funny walking animation] |
| Joint | Acts just like the Beer Can; it helps lower the Fear buildup. It also helps you pick up noise from civilians very far away; smoking a joint will elevate all of your senses. [It also shows the location of Michael Myers if he is close to your location.] |
| Pops | Consumable item that lowers Stamina Consumption and also can be thrown at Michael to stagger him. |
| Healing Spray | Healing Spray can be sprayed on yourself or other players to restore HP. |
| Medkits | Works as a healing item but requires a bit of time to heal you completely. There are multiple uses for this item. |
| Brick, Rock, and Baseball | All three are throwable items to deal damage and cause stagger on Michael. Out of these throwable items, Bricks are best at dealing damage. They are perfect when Michael is grabbing a civilian. |
| Lawn Dart | They are reusable items; you can throw the darts at Michael and then pick them up from the ground to throw them back again. [Michael will pick the dart up and use it against civilians.] |
| Butterfly Knives, Pocket Knives, Ice Picks | They are used as defensive items to fend off Michael’s grabbing attack. Sort of like how knives work in the modern Resident Evil 2, 3, or 4 remakes. Always keep them in your possession; they are the best defense against Michael’s grab attack and reality tear. [Leveling Lynda to Lv.10 starts with a Pocket Knife.] |
| Flashlights | Stun Michael by blinding him with a flashlight and also allows you to slow his movements. Flashlights run on batteries; using too many will make the Flashlight useless, so you must find batteries to activate them. [No need to keep batteries, as you will easily find Flashlights in the game.] |
| Firecrackers | Perfect for blinding and stunning Michael and can also be used as a distraction. |
| Road Flare | Allows you to create a safe space to fend off Michael. It also works as a flashlight; Michael will get blinded by the sight of the flare’s light. [Make sure to activate them first before tossing them on the ground, or they will be completely useless.] |
| Flare Gun | A perfect item to stun Michael and deal a massive amount of damage to him. |
| Repair Kit | Repair Kits can be used on cars, Power Boxes, and Phone lines. Many times, Michael will break the Power Boxes instead of turning them off; here, Repair Kits will help you restore power to the house. |
| Keys | They are used to open locks, but having a pair of pliers will also help you accomplish the same. Many players tend to carry pliers over keys. |
| Electric Fuse | A fuse is used to restore electricity in boxes for gate escapes. [If you are planning to take the Gate escapes, then carry a fuse and a knife to fend off Michael Grab attack during fuse installation.] |
| Locker Code | Allows you to open lock boxes to get loot, but the alternative here is to have an Axe in your possession; works the same as pliers for locks. [I will recommend Axe over Locker Code, as you can destroy the box with the axe and grab the item inside, and it can also be used to attack Michael, so you are killing two birds with one stone.] |
| Magnum Revolver | 6 Bullets that deal good enough damage. |
| Shotgun | 4 Bullets that deal a decent amount of damage against Michael. |
| Rifle | 4 bullets that allow you to deal heavy ranged damage against Michael. Landing a good shot will instantly get Michael on the ground. [It also has a scope to help you land precise shots from a distance.] |
| Melee Weapons | Always use throwable weapons for the best melee damage. Best Melee Weapons: Fire axe, Sledgehammer, and Rake. Avoid: Police Baton, Kitchen Knife, Broken Bottle, Pipe Wrench, and Fire Poker. |
With multiple endings, you can play the chapters differently with new gameplay tactics by experimenting with different items.
