Keeping up with the increasing levels of hunger your town faces as it grows in Manor Lords can be tough. When winter comes around, your usual Berry deposit will go dry and bigger settlements can’t be supported on meat from a single hunting ground, which is why you need to learn how to farm wheat and make bread in Manor Lords.
While I initially figured out the supply chain required to make bread, I still had to get a basic grasp on the farming mechanics. Here is how I was able to create a sustainable supply of bread for my settlement.
Making Bread in Manor Lords
To produce Bread entirely within your settlement in Manor Lords, here is what you need to do:
- First, you need to place down a Farmhouse and dedicate a given area as a Field, making Wheat its focus crop. Families appointed to the Farmhouse will not only grow and farm this wheat but they will also thresh it into Grain.
- Your next step is to place down a Windmill and make sure it’s in an open area with no other structures or forests around it for maximum efficiency. The Windmill will refine Grain into Flour.
- Finally, place down the Communal Oven which will take the Flour from the windmill and bake Bread with it. Your settlement will now automatically make Bread in Manor Lords all year round.

Alternatively, for the last step, you can also make use of the Bakery Extention on Level 2 Burgage Plots but this can only be done after getting the Bakeries node in the settlements Development tree.
Bread Making Tips in Manor Lords
While it may sound easy to simply set up this supply chain, I found in my first playthrough that it’s a bit harder than it first seems. For starters, my field didn’t hold its fertility for multiple years which drastically decreased by yield of wheat per year.
To get around this, try to have two or three different fields that rotate to other crops or stay fallow every other year. This way you can maintain the fertility and have it be truly automated forever as long as your settlement is thriving.
If you feel that the workers in your Farmhouse aren’t prioritizing the threshing of Wheat enough, you can go into the advanced tab of the Farmhouse and increase the threshing priority, making sure your settlement gets its food in time.
