Sparrow is the latest character in Apex Legends, who debuted in Season 25, Prodigy. He is a recon-type legend that specializes in compromising enemy positions. As of now, he is accessible to everyone until May 20. He will then be available only for players who have unlocked him, and this guide covers various methods to do so.
Methods to Unlock Sparrow
Sparrow is an Italian Legend who has a varied set of abilities. He has:
- A passive double jump that allows him to traverse the map with ease.
- A tracker dart that scans any enemies in its line of sight. It can be used to activate beacons from a distance.
- A stinger bolt that needs to be charged up, after which it damages and slows any enemies in an AoE.
At the time of this writing, there are only three ways to permanently unlock Sparrow and add him to your roster.
1. Legend Tokens
This might be the most tedious one out of the three, but it is also a tried-and-true method. Spend Legend tokens to buy Sparrow from the Legends menu. You earn these tokens by completing matches, challenges, and levelling up. Each level grants you 600 tokens (unless you have the premium Battle Pass boost), and you need 12000 to unlock a Legend. Get grinding!
2. Apex Coins
Apex coins are the premium currency of the game. These can only be acquired by spending real money and completing the seasonal upgraded Battle Pass. You need 750 coins to unlock a Legend, which comes to ~10 USD.
3. Prodigy Launch Challenges
Navigate to the “Challenges” tab and select the season. You are now presented with two sets of challenges: Weapon and Legend. Completing both sets of challenges earns you Sparrow as a playable Legend.
Weapon Challenges
Weapon challenges are pretty straightforward and need you to just deal a certain amount of damage with a specified weapon. They are:
- Deal 1,000 damage with the Bocek.
- Deal 1,000 damage with the G7 Scout.
- Deal 1,000 damage with marksmen weapons.
Note that both the Bocek and G7 Scout are marksmen weapons, so completing the first two challenges also counts towards the progression of the third.
Legend Challenges
These challenges can only be completed for a limited time, up until Sparrow is available for everyone. They require the players to perform tasks using the said Legend. They are:
- Scan 40 enemies with Sparrow’s Tracker Dart.
- Grapple 4,000 Meters with Pathfinder.
- Deal 1,000 damage with Sparrow’s Stinger Bolt
OR
Have 250 teammates use Pathfinder’s Zipline
- Get 30 kills or assists
- Deal 25,000 Damage with Sparrow or Pathfinder
