Helldivers 2 is releasing soon on PS5 and PC. As PC gamers celebrate the day-one release, many are wondering if Arrowhead’s upcoming shooter will be compatible with the Steam Deck.
Can I Play Helldivers 2 On Steam Deck?
Based on the minimum PC system requirements by Arrowhead, Helldivers 2 should be playable on Steam Deck. However, the game hasn’t currently been verified to be compatible on the handheld. However, this does not mean that you won’t be able to play the title on Steam Deck.
As soon as the game releases, Steam Deck console owners will try the title on this handheld console. The game will eventually get verified as ‘Playable’ if it runs smoothly on Steam Deck.
The only cause for concern is the game’s DRM, called NProtect GameGuard. DRMs are used by developers to combat piracy, and the inclusion of these software has been known to affect the games’ performance on Steam Deck. But based solely on system requirements, the game technically should run decently on Valve’s handheld.

Another cause for concern is the massive size of the Helldivers 2 PC version. The game requires 100 GB of storage on PC. So, if you are planning on playing this game only on your Steam Deck, we recommend waiting a couple of days post-launch. Reports of players testing the game on the handheld will soon come in. You also might need to expand your console’s storage using a MicroSD card to accommodate its massive size.
Many AAA games do not get a fully verified commendation or ‘playable’ badge for Steam Deck before the title releases. However, the first Helldivers game is currently playable on Steam Deck, which is certainly good news for Helldivers 2. As soon as there’s more news on this, I’ll update the article.
