Aniimo came out on September 16, 2026, and much like most creature collector games on the market, it opens with a choice that you will be sticking with for a considerable amount of your playthrough. This choice is especially important for the first few hours. Aniimo asks you to pick between two creatures at the beginning: Lunara and Helion.
In this guide, I will explain which starter is the best option for you.
Lunara vs Helion Stats Comparison In Game
The following table breaks down and simplifies the decision through important statistics. I also believe it is important for you to take a look at them before you make the choice:
| Stat | Lunara | Helion |
| HP | 90 | 90 |
| ATK | 116 | 116 |
| Break | 85 | 85 |
| M.DEF | 65 | 65 |
| P.DEF | 65 | 65 |
| Regen | 83 | 83 |
Both also share the same Hustle mobility ability along with the same Artisanship and Light Homeland abilities. Their uniqueness in combat comes down to individual playstyle, and not power levels.
Whatever creature you decide to pick, your rival will keep the one that you don’t. It is also important to note that this choice is permanent, and there is no confirmed way to catch the starter Aniimo that you did not pick later on. Hence, don’t pick expecting to circle back for the other one.
Lunara: The Ranged, Sustain-Leaning Pick

Lunara can take fights from a distance, which offers you room to learn dodge timing and enemy patterns without forcing you into close-range trades early in the game. Her signature move is Fox Mark: Lumin Bolts, which applies a mark that reduces an enemy’s Light resistance by 5%, stacking up to three times. She also heals a small amount on every marked basic attack, which gives her a built-in sustain layer.
She also later evolves into Fennelun after using her ultimate. Lunara is considered a safer and more forgiving pick if you are new to this genre.
Helion: The Aggressive Melee Pick

When it comes to Helion, he trades range for raw aggression. His Holy Storm ability can pull nearby enemies together and set up group fights that he closes out with his aerial dive finisher. I found his playstyle to be commitment-heavy, which rewards you if you are comfortable with dodge timing and positioning in the middle of a fight, rather than kiting around enemies.
If you already enjoy melee-focused characters, I would recommend giving this Aniimo a go, as it might just be up your alley.
Which Starter Aniimo Should You Pick?
There are no right or wrong choices in this instance. Depending on your playstyle and of course, which of the two is just that little bit cuter than the other, you can go for Lunara or Helion. I typically prefer melee combat, and hence went with Helion – that choice has been serving me quite well so far. Just remember here that you will not be able to undo the decision you make. So be mindful of that. If you enjoy ranged combat with utility pairing, Lunara is the way to go. If you prefer close-up fights with aggression, Helion will give you a good time.
Both are great at dealing significant damage, especially in the early encounters. They are also built to carry you well past the early hours. Both characters are handcrafted to get you into the game’s combat smoothly, while also holding your hands when it comes to learning different abilities and items.
Do remember to then set off and get a Prismana Egg in Aniimo as soon as you have started exploring the north-western corners of the map.
