NetEase recently dropped Season 9 of Marvel Rivals, and with the anticipated balance changes and bug fixes, out came a detective style mini-game event. You see, a lot of players were complaining the recent events feeling bland, with not much to gain even if they invest the time to play it. So, the developers tried something new that had never been done in Rivals before. Not a new game mode, but a murder mystery mini-game: Death of Apocalypse. In this guide, we will let you know all there is to this event.
Death of Apocalypse Event in Marvel Rivals

The best thing about this event is you don’t have to find a match or get into a game mode to play it. Now you have something to do while those shaders are pre-loading. To access it, simply head to the Events tab, and you should see the Death of Apocalypse right there. This is a great way to involve fans who are just here for the ‘hero-shooter’ experience in the lore of Marvel comics, and a bit of backstory and personalities of the heroes they play.

Inside the Death of Apocalypse event, you will now see three murder mysteries of three heroes: Wolverine, Psylocke, and Gambit. Every case includes a briefing of what happened in the deceased’s own words, with a couple of suspects to choose from. Multiple heroes also join forces to investigate the cause of these mysterious deaths.
To solve a case, select one of the three and follow the below steps:
Step 1: Go over the briefing. It usually includes all the events that led to the victim’s death and points at a few suspects.
Step 2: Pick out clues from the illustrated crime scene – they are very hard to miss. They have a very distinctive glow around them, and are spread all over the picture.
Step 3: Click on “investigate”, and it will take you to the deduction screen. Here, you will see the case description with a few missing spaces between sentences. When performed correctly, the above steps should gather a bunch of keywords.
Step 4: Use the correct keyword for each of the blank spaces, and the correct character names for the blank portraits.
Death of Wolverine

Initially, only Death of Wolverine was unlocked. Daredevil, Blade, and the new hero Jubilee are the ones that work this case. Since it is basically impossible to actually kill Wolverine, someone with serious strength is required to take him out. The clues in this case are:
- Bucky
- Hydra
- Murdered
- Family
- Wolverine
- Berserker Rage
- Host
- Mechanical Arms
- Tentacles
- Hive cells
- Blood
- Healing Factor
And the three people of interest are Jubilee, Bucky, and of course, Wolverine. Basically, Bucky confesses to Wolverine about his the involvement in the death of his family, which triggers Wolverine’s berserker rage. The Hive cells within Bucky’s arms act as a defense mechanism against his own will, killing Wolverine while suppressing his healing factor.
Death of Psylocke

Death of Psylocke followed shortly after Wolverine with Emma Frost, Magik, and Thor, and Captain America on the case. In her case briefing, she mentions having no actual memory of what exactly led to her death. The clues in this case are:
- Loki
- Destiny
- Paint
- Blood
- Psylocke
- Watercolor Universe
- Illusion
- Magik
- Undead Energy
- Drawn
And the three people of interest are Psylocke, Loki, and Magik. The assailant here is Loki, who believed that the key to acquiring the Ink of Destiny, used to alter one’s own fate, lies in Psylocke’s special blood.
Death of Gambit

Death of Gambit is the final murder mystery case of this event. For a complete breakdown of this case, check out this link: https://gameshorizon.com/guides/marvel-rivals-death-of-gambit-correct-solution/
Marvel Rivals Death of Apocalypse – Final Truth
Once you solve the 3 cases correctly, you then have to place the 3 symbols in the right place, by clicking on Apocalypse’s corpse.
- The Bloodless Corpse on the first slot on the left
- The Undead Energy on the slot on the top-right
- The Phoenix Force on the last slot at the bottom right
Click on Reveal The Truth, and with that, you are done with this neat event in Marvel Rivals!
That is about it. I highly recommend attempting all three cases of the event, since the rewards you get are pretty decent especially for the time you invest in doing them. For each case you solve, you get a character-specific gallery card, and 100 units each. The event ends on 20th August, so you have quite a while to complete all of them.
