The interconnected semi-open world of Minecraft Dungeons 2 is the fun aspect of the game; the quest layouts also take advantage of the mechanic by putting the player through sections of the world by doing a simple quest. Nearly everywhere you set out on your journey in the game, you will come across a good range of enemies and interesting landmarks that award you with EXP for leveling up or items you may not have in your possession.
In the quest Training with the Enchantsmith, it’s all about collecting books. In this guide, I will show you how to complete the entire quest and unlock Gear Enchanting in Minecraft Dungeon 2, and I will also address the bug that can pop up during the final objective of the quest.
Training with the Enchantsmith Quest

You will run into the quest “Training with the Enchantsmith” south of Howling Woods. Don’t worry, it’s not a missable quest; the marker for the quest will be shown on the map, as highlighted in the image above. Here you will find a lone Enchantsmith warning you not to head further into Howling Woods. The only way to get into Howling Woods is by proving our worth by recovering three stolen enchantment books.
Accept the quest, and we will start our journey with our objectives:
- Objective #1 | Search for the Book of Healing Smite
- Objective #2 | Search for the Book of Piercing
- Objective #3 | Collect the Book of Ancient Alchemy
Search for the Book of Healing Smite

From the location where we met with the Enchantsmith, the very first objective will take us to the spot northwest of our current location, as marked on the image above. The Healing Smite book is sitting on a lectern in the middle of the area, surrounded by common enemies and a boss “Enderman“. Defeat the boss, grab the loot, then interact with the book lectern to get to the next objective.
Search for the Book of Piercing

From the spot where we recovered the book of Healing Smite in Minecraft Dungeons 2, head southwest from the location, as marked on the picture above. Just like the last book, you will find the book of Piercing sitting on a lectern, and just like the last time, it will be surrounded by enemies. Grab the book first or defeat the group of Illagers, or vice versa; unlike the last time, you will not run into any boss encounter. I will advise you to clean the area from the enemy infestation then grab the book later to get the next objective on the line.
Collect the Book of Ancient Alchemy

Head north from the place where you retrieved the Book of Piercing, and you will find the spot for the next book, Book of Ancient Alchemy. Once you reach the objective area, defeat all the enemies in the spot, and you will spot a well with golden light coming from inside. Interact with the well to go down, and you will find yourself in a dungeon-like area. Unlike a regular dungeon, this one is quiet, almost too quiet. Interact with the lectern, and you will find out the book we are looking for is missing; quickly, you will get ambushed by a bunch of Illagers. Defeat the Illagers to get to the next objective of delivering the bad news to our Enchantsmith.
Head back to the Enchantsmith located in the town southwest of Howling Woods, the same starting location. He will tell us the importance of the missing book that we failed to recover; the Book of Ancient Alchemy is the most powerful book of all three. He will then ask us to pay a visit to the Enchantsmith stall in Brave Haven to learn more about the missing book.
Fast travel to Brave Haven and talk to the man at the stall with purple decoration and spiral symbols out front. He will let us know about the last book and its missing status, but he will not leave us empty-handed; we will have the clue to the dungeon with the final book, located outside the town.
Find the Dungeon and Get the Book

Bug Alert: Some players have encountered that the door the game points to complete the objective is the wrong door. The dungeon location marked on the image above is the correct door to access the dungeon to obtain the final book for the quest. If you are doing the quest and the marker is pointing to another dungeon further northeast of Braven Haven, don’t go there; instead, head through the dungeon door marked in the red circle on the image above.
Head to the dungeon located east of Braven Haven, and head inside to complete the last objective of the quest. The goal here is to reach the final area of the dungeon. Since it is a dungeon, you will run across many Illagers; defeat them or just simply, get past them, it doesn’t matter. The route is fairly linear; following it will eventually lead to the final section of the dungeon.
Once you reach the end spot, just like the last time, you will get ambushed by a bunch of Illagers. Defeat the Illagers, and you will run into a boss fight against the Evoker. Defeat the boss, loot the treasure box that drops after defeat, and that’s it. Now head back to the Enchantsmith stall in Braven Haven to complete the quest.
Completing the quest allows the Enchantsmith to enchant your items; you will need Enchantment Points to make use of Enchantment Books. The quest completion rewards you with Piercing, Healing Smite, and Ancient Alchemy. You can enchant any gear of your liking by combining the Enchantment Books with Echo Shards and Enchantment Points. Echo Shards can be gained by taking out soul-corrupted enemies, which are common in the world.
While this quest does not have a boss fight in the end, Corruption in the Woods does. So do give our full walkthrough for this quest in Minecraft Dungeons 2.
