Instilling is one of the best ways in PoE2 to solidify your build with passives, out of reach from your character section of the tree. While the game generally gives you all the crafting details for all the passives in the tree, some of them are hidden, and the hidden ones generally have better buffs to offer than the rest. Here I am going to take a look at one of the best hidden passives, Thaumaturgic Generator in Path of Exile 2, and how you can anoint or instill it on your amulet.
What is a Thaumaturgic Generator in PoE2

Thaumaturgic Generator is a hidden passive skill that can be anointed to an amulet; it grants one of the strongest anoint effects called Thaumaturgical Dynamism. What makes this effect popular is its mechanic: Power, Frenzy, or Endurance Charges are gained passively every 5 seconds. The automatic charge gain makes Thaumaturgical Dynamism a perfect choice for many builds.
Note: Thaumaturgic Generator doesn’t show up on the passive skill tree until you craft it or anoint the effect on an amulet. If you open your passive tree, you are not going to find anything related to Thaumaturgic Generator.
There is another layer to Thaumaturgical Dynamism: the type of charge you gain can be controlled by the skill gems you have activated for your build.
- If your build is leaning towards Strength gems, then you will gain Endurance Charges
- If the build is more focused on Dexterity gems, then you can expect Frenzy Charges.
- If Intelligence gems are the major part of your build, then you will gain Power Charges.
And if you keep everything balanced, there is a chance you are going to see all three charges getting activated for your character. You can keep track of all the charge details on the top-left of the screen. Once the Thaumaturgic Generator is activated on your amulet, you will see a special icon on the top-left of the screen, including the charging icons for each charge.
Instilling the Thaumaturgical Dynamism

Since anointing any passive to an amulet requires you to look at the passive, in this case Thaumaturgic Generator, we can get the information on its Liquid Emotions (special crafting ingredients, how Oils used to work in the first Path of Exile). But it can’t be done, as the entire skill doesn’t show up on the tree. The information regarding the existence of this skill and crafting was available from the online forums you will need:
Melancholy Liquid Emotion + Disgust Liquid Emotion + Isolation Liquid Emotion
Once you have obtained all three Liquid Emotions, they will be sitting in your inventory. It’s time to craft it; head to the Withered Willow on the Atlas map, next to the wall. Unlike the Sacred Reservoir, the Withered Willow can easily be accessed from the Atlas, but you will need to complete the initial quest of defeating 5 Delirious Map Bosses from Elder Maddox before gaining access to the Instilling machine. Once that’s done, head inside the Withered Willow map, and you will find the Decanter of Madness machine.
Interact with it to open the Instilling menu. Here you will have four boxes: three boxes at the top and one at the bottom (As seen in the image above). The three boxes at the top will be for Liquid Emotions, and the one at the bottom will be reserved for the amulet. So add in the amulet and all three Liquid Emotions (Melancholy/ Disgust/ Isolation) to anoint or instill the Thaumaturgic Generator into your amulet.
Once the instilling process is done, the amulet will have the passive effect. Now, head to your inventory and wear the amulet to activate the bonus effect from the Thaumaturgic Generator, Thaumaturgic Dynamism effect in the game.
Finding Liquid Emotions

You will get these Liquid Emotions (Melancholy/ Disgust/ Isolation) randomly by farming in Delirium encounters in Waystones or Simulacrums. Here, you might get the Liquid Emotions from the common Delirium mobs, but your best bet here is to grab these ingredients by slaying the Delirium boss encounters. All of that will take time, since everything is RNG; here, many players skip the grind and head straight to the trade or Currency Exchange Market to buy the Liquid Emotions for a small or large price.
Tip: If you want to know the Liquid Emotions requirement for any of the passives on the skill tree, you don’t have to go online to find it; just press and hold Alt on your keyboard when you are hovering the mouse over any skill on the passive skill tree. And you will find all Liquid Emotions requirements for the passives that you are interested in.
Twister Martial Artist, Oracle BLS Autobomber, and Doom Blood Mage, and many builds will take major benefit from having Thaumaturgic Generator instilled for the build in Path of Exile 2.
