Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty puts you in the middle of an FIA espionage. You save the NUSA president Myers with the help of Songbird, who crashes her plane in Dogtown, only to realize the crash was Songbird’s plan all along. You get The Killing Moon mission in the Phantom Liberty expansion when you side with Songbird amidst this whole debacle and help her escape the clutches of FIA and Myers so that she can disappear somewhere far away and never be used as a weapon for the FIA.

This mission can have multiple outcomes and depending on your choices, you can still get Songbird captured by Reed. So, let’s take a look at all the choices along the way and what outcome they result in.

  • How to get The Killing Moon mission
  • Meeting Songbird in the van
  • Entering the NCX Spaceport
  • Getting to the Rooftop
  • Heading to the Monorail Control Tower
  • Final standoff at the Departure station (Final Choice)

How to get The Killing Moon mission

The Killing Moon mission starts after you choose to help Songbird in the Firestarter mission in the early parts of the Phantom Liberty expansion. Once you do that and manage to escape the stadium, you will have to wait for a few days to get the call from Reed first saying he is going to find you and then a few days after this to finally get a call from Songbird which will start the mission.

In the meantime, you can do Mr.Hands gigs like the Dogtown Saints gig or you can use the skip time feature and skip directly to when you get the two calls.

Meeting Songbird in the van

Once you get the call from Songbird, she will ask you to meet up with her in a discreet location in an alley next to the N54 News HQ. Get the coordinates from her and make your way to this area and you will find a black van parked in the alley.

Get inside the back of the van and you will find Songbird in bad shape clinging on to her life. She will explain that she has secured a flight to Luna in order to meet the Ripperdoc at a Black clinic that can cure her Blackwall infection.

After the conversations with her, you will have to drive the van and take her to the NCX Spaceport. Once you reach there, give all your weapons to Songbird so that you don’t trip any detectors and enter the spaceport.

Entering the NCX Spaceport

As you enter the Spaceport during The Killing Moon mission in Cyberpunk 2077’s latest expansion, you will be going through a set of security gates with lots of security around. Make sure to not be aggressive in any way as threatening the security can result in them putting you into an interrogation room which will make it more difficult to get to where you need to go.

  • Make your way to the objective marker which will be a security check by the OA security.
  • When asked to jack in by the OA security, do so and act as normal as possible.
  • Next, you will be asked to look at the cameras to verify your biometrics. Here you will have to buy time until Songbird links your metrics to a fake profile.
  • Don’t look at the camera until the Building Database meter is full and until you get the go-ahead from Songbird.
  • You can buy more time here and be less suspicious if you have enough Attribute points in the Cool skill. The points required will be based on what character level you do this mission in.
  • After you get past this security gate, Songbird will let you know that she has a special package waiting for you through her inside contact at the OA spaceport.

  • To get it, simply head to the Baggage Retrieval System terminal found by the set of stairs and enter the code given to you by Songbird.
  • Open the suitcase and put on the Corp-Bud uniform you get from it. While this is optional, it is advised you do so in order to make sneaking through the next part easier.

Getting to the Rooftop

Once you get through security at the Spaceport entrance and lobby, it is time to make your way to the Tycho Terminal. There can be multiple ways to get to it but the easiest and quickest way is to go through the open metal gate shown in the picture above. The guard won’t stop you and this method does not require any attribute points in any skills like others do.

Go through this door and push the obstacle in your way and you will have successfully sneaked behind the tarps. At this point, Songbird will tell you there is a change of plans and you need to get to the rooftop elevator through the construction site.

  • As you make your way through, remember that you do not have any weapons and you cannot fight.
  • Also, remember that humans will not detect you because of the Corp-Bud disguise but you can still get detected by robots and cameras.
  • Sneak through the construction site by avoiding robots and cameras until you reach the elevator. Getting detected is not an option here.

  • Once you get to the rooftop, go onto a lower catwalk on the right where you will find a fire hose that you can use to help Songbird get up to your level and finally reunite with her.

Heading to the Monorail Control Tower

After reuniting with Songbird, follow her as she tells you how Myers and the NUSA soldiers have arrived at the NCX spaceport to hunt her down. There is much to do in this section other than to follow Songbird. Also, there will be sections where you can eavesdrop on conversations between Myers and Reed, do so and continue following Songbird.

  • Do this until you reach the elevator taking you back to the Spaceport hallway you entered at the start. Only this time, it will be a warzone with a fight breaking out between OA soldiers and NUSA operatives.
  • Keep following the objective marker as you fight through the enemies. This time you will have your weapons as Songbird will give them back to you when you reunite with her.
  • Once you reach the elevator and head to Departures, you will find that an attack chopper is looking for you and Songbird. At this point, Songbird will take a breather and rest for a while. You can help her feel better by finding water for her and having a conversation with her. You can even check on her Cyberware with enough levels in your Technical skills.
  • After getting out of this area, you will be confronted by the attack chopper you saw before. Take cover when the chopper is shooting and wait until it reloads, this will be your opening to move up further.
  • Progress through the corridors fighting enemies along the way until you reach the Maglev station.
  • Here, defeat all the NUSA operatives and reach the control tower where Songbird will call the train that you need to take to head to the launch pad.

  • Defend the control tower from enemies until the Train comes. When the attack chopper is back, head back to cover inside the control tower and check up on Songbird.
  • Songbird will upload a Blackwall Pulse daemon you can now use to wipe out all the enemies around you and give you a safe exit to the train and all the way to the launch pad.

Final standoff at the Departure station (Final Choice)

When you finally arrive at the Departure station in The Killing Moon mission along with Songbird ready to escape, she will reveal the fact that the neural matrix she had you stealing from Hansen can only be used once. And that she was lying about having a cure for both you and her.

After this reveal you will have three choices to make:

  • Pick up Songbird | Time to go, So Mi: You pick her up and decide to still help her escape, you will confront Reed on the walkway
  • Pick up Songbird | Wake the hell up: You pick her up and confront Reed on the walkway only this time you can immediately hand her over to Reed.
  • Call Reed | Reed’ll take care of you: Hand her over to Reed which stops Songbird from escaping and opens up a possibility of your cure in the Through Pain to Heaven mission after it.

If you pick up Songbird and head to the walkway to get her onto the rocket, you will be confronted by Reed on the walkway. Here you will have these options:

  • Reed, dammit!: You’ll initiate the slow-mo sequence where you need to kill Reed.
  • Holster weapon | All yours, but you’ll help me live on: Reed will take So Mi, and you’ll unlock Through Pain to Heaven mission later.
  • Holster weapon | Take her. Don’t want nothin’ in return: Reed will take So Mi, but you won’t access the next mission (Through Pain to Heaven).
  • Draw weapon | Sorry, man: You’ll initiate the slow-mo sequence where you need to kill Reed.

You will have to Kill Reed or get Songbird captured here, you can’t save both of them. If you kill Reed, you will unlock the King of Wands ending. You can also get his iconic tech pistol called Pariah from his body.

If you hand over Songbird to Reed, they will take her away in an FIA air vehicle while Reed will let you know that you will hear from him soon about how he can help cure you.

That is it for the full walkthrough on Phantom Liberty’s The Killing Moon mission. If you would like to read similar walkthroughs for other missions, you might also be interested in how to complete Balls to the Wall in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
