You can specialize in various fields besides being a store owner in Probably Stolen. If you like to experiment with chemicals or dream of owning a lab in your store, then you could probably go with the Chemist specialization to create unique solutions. But along the way, you will be tasked with creating some contraband, and that includes a unique item called Dream Dust.
You need to carefully plan how you wish to create Dream Dust for sale, and the process is not easy. One mistake could put your entire business at stake, so you need to follow the process as carefully as possible. Since it could get complicated to create Dream Dust, here is a step-by-step guide on the best possible way to obtain pure Dream Dust in Probably Stolen.
How to Create Dream Dust
With a bit of chemistry in Probably Stolen, you can create a contraband narcotic called Dream Dust. This will be your first task after picking the Chemist class at the start of the game. Your first task is to craft 10 Dream Dust, and you also get step-by-step guidance on how to create it from the note that is handed over to you. Technically, there are four steps to creating Dream Dust.

- Extraction
- Evaporation
- Packaging
You will be working with scavenged Dream Caps and several different pieces of equipment to turn them into high-quality Dream Dust. You will also obtain your basic equipment as part of the Chemist class to get started.
Prepping the Ingredients
As per the instructions on the note, you need to first add a liquid container to your blender’s Container slot to hold the Dream Cap Mush end product. Then, highlight all the Dream Caps and drag and drop them into the blender. Before turning it on, I recommend adding a Chem Module to your blender to lower the Content Loss percentage. One Chem Module will reduce the loss from its base 35% to 20%, and adding more will improve the blender a lot more.

Preparation for Extraction
Turn on the blender and collect the Dream Cap Mush in Probably Stolen, then split the end product into several smaller beakers. This is to prepare for the next step, which is Extraction. You need to add alcohol to the Dream Cap Mush and heat the mixture to get Dream Cap Extract.
The only problem here is that alcohol tends to evaporate a lot quicker if left on the heating pad for even a bit longer than usual. This could burn your concoction if you are not careful, hence why it is recommended to split up the Dream Cap Mush before proceeding to the next step.
Measuring Alcohol Content
Add the Dream Mush to a pitcher, then select the pitcher and add it to a 25 mL beaker. Add the contents of the 25 mL beaker back into the container and place it on the heating plate. You now need to figure out the amount of alcohol to add, so first, select the Composition Spectrometer and get a reading of the Dream Cap Mush container.
Take the value given next to the Dream Cap Mush and multiply it by 5. The total value that you get should be reflected on the Spectrometer when adding the alcohol. Slowly keep dropping the alcohol into the Dream Cap Mush container and keep checking the Alcohol content until you get close to the amount that you had calculated earlier.
Extracting Dream Cap Extract
You can now press the temperature options on the right side of the heating plate menu. According to the Chemistry slip, the temperature should reach between 40℃ and 60℃. Keep switching up the temperatures and check the Temperature box to know the degree maintained. I suggest keeping it below 50℃, as the solution can evaporate rather quickly.
Keep checking the Spectrometer during the heating process to keep a tab on the Dream Cap Mush value. You shouldn’t let this value dip, or else you are left with just alcohol or nothing in its place. Keep refilling the 25 ml beaker with Dream Cap Mush and adding to the container each time you see the value dropping below 5.
Continue to do this until you run out of Dream Cap Mush to add, then place the Dream Cap Container out of the heating pad and back into your inventory slot.
Filtration and Evaporation
You need to make your Dream Cap Extract as pure as possible by filtering it first. Select your pitcher and add a Kotton Fabric to it. Then transfer the contents of the Dream Cap container into the pitcher and back again into the container. After that, remove the fabric and add a water filter to the pitcher next, and repeat the process.
If you wish to further improve the filtration, you can either add an acid or a base to the container to remove the protein. This won’t affect the Dream Cap Extract material, but you will find the protein values decreasing while checking the Spectrometer.
After that, select the Evaporator and add the container and an Energy Cell into their respective slots. You need to wait until the next day to get the final product. Once the next day rolls by, select the Evaporator and check the Spectrometer.
You will find your Dream Cap Extract with no water or alcohol content in it anymore. You can also check the purity percentage next to the Dream Cap Extract line on the Spectrometer.
Packaging the Dream Cap
The final step is to turn the extract into Dream Dust. Pull up the Chem Finisher and add the Dream Cap Extract container to it. Before starting up the machine, do note that the Chem Finisher will introduce contaminants into your material, which will reduce the purity. A chem module or two will help reduce these odds.
After that, select the Configure option and select Dream Dust. Press the Output option several times to add a couple of vials in the Output area. Each time you add a vial, a small percent of the solution in the container will be transferred to the vial. Continue this step until the container is empty. This will help you package and sell Dream Dust to a certain section of consumers in Probably Stolen.
