STAR WARS Zero Company plays a lot like XCOM, while also having a coat of paint that resembles Clone Wars. The game really stops holding your hand during the Droideka fight, which takes place during the Slugrat’s HQ mission. You could say this is the first real boss encounter in the game, and it challenges you a little.
While I went into the boss fight thinking it would be a clean fight, I was caught between regenerating shields and a steady stream of reinforcements. In this guide, I will explain how you can fight the boss with relative ease.
How to Beat the Droideka in STAR WARS Zero Company
Simply pouring damage into the Droideka is not enough to take it down in STAR WARS Zero Company. You need to know a few tricks to make a difference:

Wait for the boss to roll. The shields will drop when it’s moving at a distance. I found it beneficial to create space and punish that window instead of just trading fire while it has its shield up.

Pay attention to the reinforcement. Ignoring them can be punishing. Slugrats and other enemies continuously spawn throughout the fight. Deal with them first.

Keep Tel-Rea Vokoss out of melee range. She is a fragile character, and getting aggressive with her using Droideka can seriously cost her health.
Understanding Droideka’s Shields in STAR WARS Zero Company

The Droideka regenerates 46 shield health every round. So if you want to rely on small or inconsistent hits, it is a losing strategy. You need concentrated damage. Or, you can time your attacks around its shield being down entirely.
That said, the latter is more reliable. The Droideka’s shields are strong when it is standing still or moving only for a short distance. Give the boss enough open space to roll through, and it will cross the ground with its shields down. You can have an Overwatch position set up ahead of time, which can help you deal damage to the unshielded enemy.
You must also know that if the map has a ledge nearby, you can use the opportunity to knock it towards it during the shield-down phase. A lot of the maps in Zero Company are built around drops and catwalks. So, if an enemy falls off the edge, it will die instantly, regardless of remaining health.
How To Deal With Constant Reinforcements

Unless you have a strong squad, which is highly unlikely in the early game, I would recommend not fixating on the Droideka early in the fight. Slugrats and other enemies will keep spawning, so clear them out first and let the main boss sit for a moment.
Once the reinforcements are under control, turn your attention to Droideka and commit to bringing the shields down for good.
How to Use Tel-Rea Vokoss Safely

Tel-Rea is the first Jedi Padawan you encounter in STAR WARS Zero Company. While it is a little tempting to throw her into this fight, do note that her health pool is very low for this encounter. Moreover, her kit also leans on melee, which puts her at a disadvantage for this fight.
Use her as a support character for this fight:
- Use Tel-Rea’s Force powers to push Droideka away. This is especially useful if the boss is near a ledge.
- You can utilize her strength to clear out weaker enemy reinforcements, which frees the rest of your squad to focus on the main boss.
What Do You Get for Defeating the Droideka Boss in STAR WARS Zero Company
Beating the Droideka in STAR WARS Zero Company doesn’t just clear the mission, but it also permanently adds Tel-Rea Vokoss to your roster. She is the only Jedi in the game whom you can recruit and invest in for the rest of the game. She wields a lightsaber and Force abilities, unlike anyone else on your squad. Moreover, she also unlocks a second specialization later in the game, called the Wayseeker. This happens after recruiting Luco Bronc.
That is everything you need to know about STAR WARS Zero Company’s first real boss, Droideka. I would highly recommend timing your attacks around its shields and keeping the reinforcements from piling up around you.
