After announcing the game in February 2022, Capcom is finally launching the Street Fighter 6 open beta on May 19 at 12 am PDT (Pacific Time). Access to the open beta will end on May 22 at 12 am PDT, which is enough for players to get the first taste of the world of SF6.
Street Fighter 6 open beta is a free trial version of the game that lets players try some of the features and modes before the official launch. Players can get into online matches with other players on different platforms like PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One.
How to download and play Street Fighter 6 open beta
Players must note that while this open beta can be pre-downloaded right away, it will be playable only on the aforementioned dates. To download Street Fighter 6 open beta:
- Go to the Street Fighter website.
- Look for a button that says “Register a Capcom ID” and click on it. If you already have a Capcom ID, you do not need to create a new one.
- After you’ve logged in, it’s time to link your gaming platform. Street Fighter 6 is available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. If you have one of those platforms, click the respective button to link your account.
- You will get confirmation that you have signed up for the Street Fighter 6 open beta. You can now go ahead and preload it on your system.

In Street Fighter 6 open beta, you can access the following content/features:
- Character Creation: You can create your own avatar and customize it with various outfits and accessories as per your choice. NOTE: You can only create one avatar during the open beta.
- Ranked Matches: You can fight against other players online and earn points based on your performance. You can choose between three control types: Modern (the default option), Classic (like previous Street Fighter games), or Dynamic (a new option that lets you perform special moves by tilting the right stick) as per your need.
- Casual Matches: You can fight against other players online without affecting your rank or points in Street Fighter 6. You can also invite your friends to join you in a private lobby and battle together.
- Battle Hub Matches: You can fight against other players online using your avatar in the Battle Hub. You can join or create a room with up to eight players and chat with them using text or voice messages.
- Open Tournaments: You can join or create a tournament with up to 32 players and compete for winning points and prizes. You can choose between single elimination or double elimination formats.
- Training Mode: You can practice your skills and combos against a dummy opponent, which in no way affects your rank. You can adjust various settings such as health, stun, meter, etc.
- Hub Goods Shop: You can buy various items for your avatar using Fight Money (FM), the in-game currency that you earn by playing matches or completing challenges online. You can buy outfits, accessories, emotes, stickers, etc.
- Extreme Battles: You can fight against powerful enemies with special conditions that change every day.
Street Fighter 6 is an upcoming epic fighting game, with stunning graphics, smooth animations, fun gameplay, and a new story mode. You can choose from 12 classic characters like Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, and Juri, or try out four new characters: Luke, Jamie, Kimberly, and the Dark Knight. You can also make your own avatar and dress it up with different clothes and accessories. You can use your avatar to explore the Battle Hub, a virtual world where you can meet other players, join tournaments, play mini-games, and more exciting stuff.
