Blood of the Dawnwalker has an interesting set of characters, brimming with personality, either borderline psychotic or a run-of-the-mill nice guy. Unfortunately, the person we are dealing with is a cold-hearted man, sort of like how the scene plays out with Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones. Andrei is very cunning, and one look at him, you can easily tell he will ask a lot of questions and won’t take no for an answer. Here, I will help you pick the perfect answers to his questions so the section will be completed without shedding any blood.
How to Steal Andrei’s Memento?
We must steal the memento by correctly answering two of his questions and handing in our proper answers, or heading inside the hideout at night and grabbing the memento.
We are first introduced to Andrei in the quest “The Heart Wants What It Wants” in Swartrau City. Access to his hideout can only be unlocked by talking to the beggars (Paying 50 Denarius) and getting the information that selling silver is the only way to get an audience with the butcher. Once you have gained the silver, talk to the butcher, and he will help you get inside the hideout to meet with Andrei himself.
The game does hand out the option of taking Andrei out in the very first meeting. You will see him chopping off the hand of a man who failed to pay a debt. Here you can intervene, which leads to combat, making things a lot messier. Instead of violence, we must have to accept minimal violence to get on with the rest of the quest. After handing out the silver by choosing “Here’s what I’ve got.”, the real questioning will begin.
- First Question: “Not even a smile? Hm. Nervous, are we?”
- Answer #1| Who wouldn’t be? What we’re doing here is illegal.
- Answer #2| I don’t trust you, is all.
- Answer #3| You don’t impress me.
Choose the second option, “I don’t trust you, is all,” as the correct answer.
- Second Question: “Well, if that’s the case – my trusty cleaver might come in handy again.”
- Answer #1| Your threats bore me.
- Answer #2| No wonder people don’t want to work with you.
- Answer #3| You know how to handle it; that’s for sure.
Choose the third option, “You know how to handle it; that’s for sure,” as the proper answer.
After the second question, Andrei will talk about how he got the scar on his body from his father’s ring and his revenge against his father for taking the ring from him, indicating its value as a family heirloom, so we know what to take. After that, he will get distracted by noise caused by Nora and head down to talk to her with Dragon the Butcher, leaving you all alone in the room. Now you will have three options: either to steal the Necklace, Ring, or Cleaver. Take the Ring to complete it.
Note: You can use the Shadowstep power to enter the hideout at night to collect the memento without doing any quest objectives; this includes talking to either Dragon the Butcher or Andrei.
I highly recommend not taking the violent route, especially if you are doing an achievement run. Killing any of Andrei’s men will lock “The Outcast” trophy. Stealth is the best option to avoid all combat, either by heading into the hideout at night or by playing the quest by following the objectives.
