Having more health flasks is always a good idea, especially in a game hell-bent on putting the player in challenging areas, filled with mobs of enemies and tough bosses. In Valor Mortis, Empty Ferrofluid Flasks allow you to gain one more flask use to help you a lot in your journey from surviving difficult combat encounters to exploring dangerous areas. The game features nine Empty Ferrofluid Flasks that you can obtain while exploring the game.
In this guide, I will help you find all 9/9 Empty Ferrofluid Flasks in Valor Mortis. While most of them can be obtained by a bit of exploration, only one of them is tied to other collectibles in the game.
All Empty Ferrofluid Flask Locations

Empty Ferrofluid Flask #1 | Valley of Ashes

Fast travel to the Climb Lantern in the Valley of Ashes, turn left, and you will find a red box on the ground. Interact with the box to get your very first Empty Ferrofluid Flask. You will come across this spot eventually after getting your first ranged weapon and going through the tutorial about shooting at the weak spots.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2 | Fallen Village

From the Marketplace Lantern, start moving to the right until you come across a wooden bridge over the lake. The bridge is disconnected; here we must rely on the grappling ability to jump across the water.

Now just head straight, go all the way to the end of the street, and then turn right. Just move to the first house on the street on your right, and you will find the red box sitting outside (Marked with a red star icon). The house is next to the grappling point, as shown in the image above.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #3 | Caverns
From the Old Mine Lantern, turn left, take the stairs to the top, and you will find a rotating wheel next to a lamp. Spin the wheel to lift the heavy cargo at the distance upwards, but we don’t want to move the cargo to the top, we have to stop it in the middle to act as a platform for us to get across.

As the cargo is moving up, use Stasis Transmutation in the area marked with a yellow circle in the image above. Make sure the cargo is not too far down and not too far up; it needs to be in the middle for us to jump between the gaps. The yellow circle covers the gears moving the cargo upwards; once we use the Stasis Transmutation, it stops the cargo instantly. Now we can use the cargo as a platform to cross the gap to the treasure on the other side.

Once on the other side, head through the cave directly at the front, keep moving forward until you find a rotating platform section on the left. Just like what we did before with the spinning wheel, use the Stasis Transmutation on the gears rotating the platform, marked with a yellow circle, to stop it while the platform is still out for us to get across. On the other side, you will find the red box; loot to grab the Empty Ferrofluid Flask inside.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #4 | Vale of Wrath

From the Ship Graveyard Lantern, turn left, then cross the broken wooden bridge using the grappling hook ability to jump to the other side. Keep heading straight, and you will come across a tiny village on your left.

Get inside the village, and you will find the red box carrying the Empty Ferrofluid Flask immediately to your right, next to the village well on bloody ground.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #5 | Cursed Hollow
Compared to all the other spots I’ve mentioned so far, this one will require a bit of work. The route is clear, but it features twists and turns. Head to the Deep Water Lantern, then enter the house behind the lantern; this specific house will have a wheel out front. You can use that as an indicator to separate it from other houses on the spot.

Go through the house with the wheel on the front, and leave the house through the back door. Now you will be in an area filled with water; here, head to the house on the left, marked with the image above.

Once inside, leave the house by taking the doorway on the right. Here, the area will be filled with a green hue from poison. Now that we are outside, take the route on the left until you come across a giant pile of hay in the middle. Be warned, the area surrounding the pile of hay is poisonous.

Here, if you look up a bit, you will see a giant castle in the distance. Fix your camera on the castle and start moving forward until you come across a busted wall that leads to the castle area, as shown in the image. You don’t have to go through it; instead, turn left, and you will find the red box next to the wooden house.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #6 | Outskirts

Turn around from the Lighthouse Lantern, and then use the grappling point on the left to land near the wooden house on the left. Don’t go inside the house; instead, take the narrow route left by hugging the left side of the house.
On the other side, if you look to your right, you will see a two-story building with a hole in the second floor that we can’t go through; the only way inside is by breaking the weak wall out front.

Head to the yellow marker spot to get to the window of the house. If you peek through the window, you will clearly see two red barrels placed right next to each other inside. Here, just aim your gun at the barrel and shoot it to blow up the weak spot.
Now head to the other side of the house and go through the blasted hole in the wall. Turn right, take the stairs, and then jump on the platform to reach the second floor. Kill the enemy, and then loot the red box on the right. Do note that while you are opening the chest, you will be ambushed by an enemy, so be prepared for the worst.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #7 | University

Travel to the Main Hall Lantern, then take the grand stairs on the side. Once at the top, take the stairs on the right, pass through the door to enter the next room. Here, keep moving forward; swing on the pole on the wall to jump across the gap.

Once you land on the other side, immediately go through the broken wall on the right, then keep heading straight, and take a left at the corner, then another left.

Now move right, pass the stairs on the left, but take the second set of stairs, next to the pile of wooden boxes and barrels. Go through the narrow hole, and you will find a lever on the wall that you can pull down. Pull the lever to unveil the secret door behind the statue on the left of the lever. Jump over the railing on the side of the lever to land behind the statue, get inside the hidden area, and you will find the red box for the seventh Empty Ferrofluid Flask.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #8 | Fortress

Requirement: You must defeat all 7 Eternal Guards.
Turn around from the Lantern and take the path on the right, as shown in the image above. Keep moving straight and then turn right.

At the end, you will come across a rocky wall with a strange hidden symbol on it: a triangle with the infinity symbol underneath. When you get close to the symbol, you will get the option to Investigate; click on Investigate to open the hidden door next to it. Get inside the room, and you will find the red box on the left.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #9 | Abandoned Church

Head to the Abandoned Church Hub area and buy it from Louis’s Laboratoire Workbench. It will cost you 5,000 Catalysts.
