Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike game set in the 19th-century Napoleonic era, created by One More Level. These developers previously made Ghost Runner, a fast-paced melee combat and parkour game. Compared to their previous releases, Valor Mortis is a much different direction. It has a dark atmosphere with rich combat and an interesting story to follow.
Moreover, the quest design is also well done, which always kept me excited for the next chapters. This is true even for the side quests. The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory is one of those side quests that you will come across in Chapter 6. In this guide, I will explain how you can complete it.
How to Complete The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory Side Quest in Valor Mortis
The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory side quest in Valor Mortis begins in Cursed Hollow during Chapter 6: Punishment. It can be found near the Silent Cannons Lantern. Here is the complete quest route:

Cross the river platforms from the Silent Cannons Lantern.

Turn to the right at the cannon-wielding enemy and wall-run into the new area.

Talk to Seamus through the window of the house. He will hand you an empty bottle, and this will start the quest.

Go through the house at the back of the same area. You will notice three notes inside, and out the other side of the house, there will be the dog miniboss’s arena. You can spot the pig lying on the ground there.

Use your empty bottle on it to get a Blood-Filled Bottle.

Grab the Bottle of Wine from the barrel inside the shack with animals hanging from the ceiling.

Then return to the same window where you talked to Seamus before. You can give him one of the two bottles.
You will only be offered a choice here if you are carrying both the bottles. So grab both of them, unless you already have a good idea of which one you want to give him. Upon finishing the quest, you can earn a Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade and the Blood and Wine Trophy.
Blood or Wine: What Each Choice Does in The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory
You can only offer Seamus one bottle. Here’s how he will react to each:
- Blood: Seamus will realize he is still a human being.
- Wine: Seamus drinks the wine, thinking it is blood, and is overjoyed.
Giving Seamus either bottle will finish the quest. Hence, it is a roleplay call more than an actual gameplay choice. I personally recommend giving him the wine bottle to make sure he feels okay.
What More Can You Grab from the Silent Cannons Area in Valor Mortis
Aside from the side quest itself in Valor Mortis, the Silent Cannons section houses some great upgrades which you shouldn’t miss since you are in the area anyway.
- Indestructible Shell: Found in a chest by exploding bodies in the area past Seamus’ shack.
- Warrior’s Fury: Dropped by the dog miniboss in the pig’s arena. It can also drop early after you defeat one of the clones.
I must warn you that the chest holding the Indestructible Shell explodes when you open it. So, be prepared for it.
The Blood and Wine Trophy in Valor Mortis
Blood and Wine is a Bronze Trophy in Valor Mortis and is one of the six side-quest trophies alongside We Wear the Same Colours, A Bitter Cure, Hand in the Jar, Aggressive Reconnaissance, and The Book of Beasts.
Nothing in Chapter 6 is really missable, so don’t rush it. You are given the choice to return to any area, and all side quests like the Monster Hunter drawings throughout the game stay available. That said, I recommend not skipping this one for the story bit.
