Where to Find the Memory Locket in Hollow Knight Silksong

If you’re diving into Hollow Knight: Silksong, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on Memory Lockets. These are super important items because they’re how you expand the slots on your Crests, which lets Hornet equip more tools and beef up her abilities.

These valuable lockets are hidden all over the kingdom of Pharloom, either tucked away in tricky-to-reach spots or available for purchase from certain merchants. Knowing where they are is key to customizing your build and getting Hornet ready for whatever comes next, which is one of the ways Silksong is harder than the original.

One place you can grab a Memory Locket is from Mort’s Shop in Far Fields. This one will cost you 150 Rosaries, which is the game’s currency, and it’s a one-time deal. Since Far Fields is an early-game area, this is a great chance to get an early upgrade for your Crests and start tailoring Hornet’s playstyle right from the start. You can collect Rosaries by beating enemies and finding hidden stashes throughout the world.

There’s another Memory Locket waiting to be found in Hunter’s March. This particular locket is sitting on a corpse in the far-right part of the area, just before you get to the Chapel of the Beast. To get to it, you’ll need to do some careful exploring and use Hornet’s traversal skills, like vaulting off enemies or striking through objects to get to higher platforms or secret paths. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for any visual clues that might point to a hidden route.

You can also unearth a third Memory Locket in Greymoor. It’s located to the right of the Moorwing boss arena, past a floor fan, in the upper part of the room. Navigating this spot requires some real precision, since you’ll need to get past things like the fan’s airflow while using Hornet’s vaulting or climbing skills to reach the high ground where the locket is. Exploring Greymoor thoroughly, even after you’ve beaten the boss, is a must if you want to find this valuable item.

Since these lockets are pretty rare and so important, it’s a good idea to explore Pharloom carefully and check in with other merchants besides Mort, like Shakra or Pebb, in places like The Marrow or Bone Bottom. They might have extra Memory Lockets for sale, too. It’s always a good bet to check out areas with suspicious-looking dead ends, hidden walls, or unusual environmental features; that’s usually where you’ll find these game-changing items that are essential for making Hornet as powerful as she can be.

What Are Memory Lockets and Why Are They Important?

In Hollow Knight: Silksong, Memory Lockets are super important for changing up Hornet’s abilities and making her more effective in both combat and exploring. Instead of the old charm system from Hollow Knight, Silksong uses a “Crest” system, and you use these Memory Lockets to expand the slots on the Crests, which lets Hornet equip more “Tools.”

These Tools are basically the new charms, giving you all sorts of active and passive abilities that can totally change how you play the game. Each Crest offers a different combat style, and by expanding its slots with Memory Lockets, you can really fine-tune your build to take on specific challenges or just fit your own style. For example, some Crests might be all about going on the offense, while others focus on defense, mobility, or utility.

The thing is, once you expand a Crest with a Memory Locket, that decision is permanent. This makes it a really strategic choice, because you have to think carefully about which Crest to upgrade based on how you want to play. A misplaced locket could lead to some serious regret if the Crest you chose doesn’t end up matching your evolving strategy.

The real significance of Memory Lockets comes from the versatility they offer. Tools are color-coded: red for offensive weapons, blue for defensive stuff, and yellow for exploration aids. By expanding your Crests, you can equip a wider range of these tools, letting you build a loadout that, for instance, increases your needle damage, boosts your health, or improves your jumping. This level of customization is crucial for navigating Pharloom’s complex map and taking down formidable enemies.

So, Memory Lockets are way more than just collectibles; they’re absolutely fundamental to Hornet’s progression and your ability to master the game’s mechanics. This gives a vital way to unlock Hornet’s full potential and experience all that Silksong has to offer.

How to Use a Memory Locket in Silksong

To even start using a Memory Locket, you have to find a bench in Pharloom, sit down, and then press “Q” to open up the Crest menu. Once you’re in there, you’ll see all your Crests, and each one has little dots that show you where you can add new tool slots. After you’re in the Crest menu, you’ve got to figure out which Crest you want to upgrade.

This is a big decision since each Crest supports a different playstyle, so you need to pick one that fits how you like to play. For example, a Reaper Crest might be best for aggressive, offensive tools, while another might be better for defensive or utility tools.

You should know that once you use a Memory Locket on a Crest, there’s no going back. If you use it on a Crest and decide you don’t like it, that upgrade is gone for good. The unlocked slot is permanent and won’t transfer to another Crest. So, it’s probably smart to wait until you have a few Crests unlocked before you use your Memory Lockets, just to make sure you pick a playstyle you really like.

Once you’ve made your choice, it’s time to actually apply the Memory Locket. You’ll need to find one of those small dots on the Crest in the menu. They represent the potential tool slots. Just select the dot and hold down the “Z” key until the dot turns into the Crest’s symbol. This uses one of your Memory Lockets and permanently unlocks a new slot.

As soon as you unlock it, you can assign a tool from your inventory right there at the bench. This new slot gives Hornet the ability to equip one more tool, which will definitely boost her abilities for all the challenges you’ll face in Pharloom, whether it’s a tough boss or a tricky platforming section in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
