Developed by Kuro Games, Wuthering Waves is a gacha ARPG based on the premise of a post-apocalyptic world trying to survive the horrors and monsters plaguing humanity. This newly released game bears resemblance to popular ARPG titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail and even shares the mechanism of having a main character/protagonist.
If you are a newbie to Wuthering Waves and haven’t tried the game before, you might be curious about this elusive protagonist that every player keeps mentioning. So, to get you up to speed, here’s all the information you need to get to know the main character a little bit better.
Who Is the Protagonist In Wuthering Waves?
The Protagonist in Wuthering Waves is called Rover, an amnesiac with an unknown past. They wake up to the world of Solaris-3 and find themselves stranded in the new environment, with Yangyang and Chixia rescuing them just in time.
Like Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves also gives you the choice of picking your Rover’s gender, making the whole storyline cater towards either the boy version of Rover with a male model or the girl version instead. This dark-haired Rover also appears to be sharing minimal dialogue throughout the whole game, which we have previously seen done in Genshin Impact.

While the game allows you to rename your character, NPCs that haven’t been introduced to the protagonist will still refer to them as Rover during the first interactions and appear as the character model of your choosing. So, there isn’t a preferred or canon MC (Main Character) who holds more precedence among the fans of the community.
As the story progresses and Rover makes their way to fighting Tacet Discords and helping the citizens of Huanglong, Rover also starts regaining pieces of their memory, but the whole story is still left to be unfolded.
