A rumor has been circulating on the internet about another PlayStation Showcase scheduled sometime later this year. According to a report on the Chinese online gaming library A9vg posted by Twitter user DarkClong, the showcase will be held sometime between July and September.
Although the date is yet to be announced, the second PlayStation Showcase of 2023 is supposed to feature three games, including China Hero Project’s Ming Dynasty which is still under wraps. The game’s sudden reveal could be due to the fact that there were no Sony-made titles at the previous showcase, which disappointed several fans.

Reports from reliable gaming sources such as podcaster Colin Moriarty and Twitter user RinoTheBouncer suggest that this could be a big event rivaling the one Sony already had earlier this year. According to DarkClong, the three games to be featured in the showcase could have a western fantasy, oriental fantasy, and a mid-dynasty theme.
The latest PlayStation Showcase held on May 24 this year had several titles which had fans excited. Some of the notable titles featured include Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater Remake, Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Final Fantasy XVI. The highlight of the showcase was a 10-minute feature of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Despite the exciting titles that were revealed, many were underwhelmed by what Sony had to offer.
Sony and the China Hero Project
China Hero Project is an ambitious program started by Sony to help fund developers in China to finish and release their games globally. So far, the initiative has managed to produce just over a dozen games, some of which are yet to be officially released. So, Sony will be looking to give a much-needed boost to the initiative through this Showcase.
Furthermore, there is some pressure on Sony after the Xbox trial and the information that was revealed about the company’s practices. It will be interesting to see what impact these situations will have on their future releases. All this again points to the fact that the rumored PlayStation Showcase could be a big one.
