Ubisoft is gearing up to release Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, an eagerly anticipated addition to the series that transports players to Japan. Arisa Lagunzad, a key figure in Ubisoft’s brand management, spilled the beans on LinkedIn, confidently claiming it to be the gaming blockbuster of 2024.
While we have to wait a year, the anticipation and extended development time will hopefully serve Ubisoft well in their rendition of feudal Japan.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red Takes Us To Japan
Since the first Assassin’s Creed was released back in 2007, fans have been eagerly awaiting a game set in medieval Japan. It’s a setting ripe with potential for stealthy, action-packed gameplay as proven by Ghost of Tsushima.
Moreover, Japan’s stunning landscapes and historical richness make it a perfect canvas for Ubisoft, who are known for their exceptional ability to recreate diverse historical eras and locations.
In the upcoming game, players will take on the roles of two protagonists: a skilled male samurai and a proficient female shinobi. These characters excel not only in combat but particularly stand out for their expertise in stealth. This marks a shift from recent Assassin’s Creed titles, excluding Mirage, which leaned more towards action-oriented RPG gameplay, placing a renewed emphasis on stealth in this installment.
Other AC Games Coming Out
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR
Nexus is an upcoming Assassin’s Creed game designed exclusively for virtual reality (VR). In this first-person action adventure, players get to step into the roles of legendary Assassins from the Ezio trilogy, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, or Assassin’s Creed 3.
The immersive VR experience will allow players to execute aerial maneuvers and stealthy actions. The release is expected during the holiday season this year, possibly in December or earlier.
Assassin’s Creed Infinity
Ubisoft is creating an interactive hub resembling the Animus, enabling players to seamlessly transition between various historical settings while advancing the overarching modern-day storyline present in the series.
The initial entries in this innovative system are Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Codename Hexe. As time goes on, the hub is anticipated to grow and transform, resembling a kind of metaverse that harmoniously fits within the franchise’s essence. It is expected to be released in 2024 as well.
