A new look at KO_OP’s Goodbye Volcano High was presented during the Tribeca Games Spotlight 2023. This charming indie game lets you take on the role of a dinosaur, who is in the last year of high school. The developers have described the game as a story about friendship and love in their final school year, just a year away from the end of the world.
The two main characters of Goodbye Volcano High, Trish and Fang, are months away from graduation. They play together in an awesome band, and still haven’t figured themselves out. In this choice-based sim, players will be able to decide and change the storyline of the game. Apart from being a dating sim, Goodbye Volcano High is also a musical simulator. You will be able to play instruments like electric and acoustic guitars in the game.
Through this game, the developers compel gamers to make bold choices. They are optimistic that since we, as a generation, also went through what nearly felt like the end of the world, this game might reignite something in us that makes us move, dance, sing, and love again. The developers state,
“Don’t let your life pass you by. Before you know it, it’ll be too late to change anything. Make new friends instead of pushing people away. Play that song you wrote – the one you’re too afraid to show anyone. Tell that one person – yeah, you know the one – how you really feel.”
Goodbye Volcano High is coming to PC via Steam, as well as to PS4 and PS5 on August 29, 2023.
