Sega will launch Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure DX on Steam in Japan next year, the company announced on X (formerly Twitter).
The announcement came during the Sonic Official Fan Meeting at Sega’s Japan-Asia Tour. Interestingly, the two Sonic Dreamcast titles have been available on Steam in the US since over a decade.
Initially launched in 1998, Sonic Adventure was made for the Sega Dreamcast and later ported for PC. That title and Sonic Adventure 2 enjoyed massive popularity and currently have a 9/10 rating on Steam with Very Positive reviews.
After Sega’s latest announcement, fans were quick to point out how these games were already available in the region for years. Many players were in disbelief at the fact that Steam users in Japan still don’t have access to the two legendary titles.
Meanwhile, some gamers jumped at the opportunity to ask Sega for current-gen console remasters of Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2. A fan requested the video game giant to port Sonic Heroes, Sonic Riders, and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity to modern consoles.
It seems Sega is listening to its Japanese fans and honoring the requests made at the fan meets. An official Steam release date for Japan for the two Sonic titles is expected to be announced soon.
