Arkane Lyon, the developer behind Deathloop, Prey, and Dishonored series, has revealed their next big project during The Game Awards. The French developer is working on a brand new third person action-adventure game, set in the city of love, that features Marvel’s cold-blooded vampire hunter, Blade.
The announcement at The Game Awards coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first appearance of Blade in Marvel comics. The short teaser revealed during the Game Awards ceremony features the game’s titular character getting his shave done from a very nervous barber in central Paris. Without focusing on the character design or even revealing his full face, the teaser showcases his signature look and weapon of choice – a glistening sword.
With raging success of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, as well as anticipation for upcoming standalone Black Panther and Wolverine games, Marvel fans are in for a treat over the next few years. The news of a Blade game is doubly exciting for Marvel fans, who are waiting patiently for an update regarding the upcoming Blade movie featuring Academy Award Winner, Mahershala Ali.
The developer Arkane Lyon, or the publisher, Bethesda Games have not revealed any details about the possible release window or the platforms for the title. However, considering that the game is being published by Bethesda, it’s safe to assume that Marvel’s Blade will be making an appearance on Xbox.
There’s no word on whether this will be in the same universe as the Spider-Man or Wolverine games, but even though the studio may be different there’s always a possibility. Blade coming to gaming consoles shows that there is a huge market for them now and we may see more Triple A games come to consoles. The Blade movies were some of the best superhero movies at the time, and we know we can expect a great game from Arkane and Bethesda.
