The latest Overwatch 2 update features a secret tweak to one of the game’s most popular characters, Tracer. The tweak in question is the upgradation of one of the character’s abilities, Blink. This change was not included in the official patch notes accompanying the updates, and it wasn’t until one of the developers of Overwatch 2 came forward to alert gamers about it. The developer, Chris Sayers, talked about this change in a recent tweet, after a player identified his craftsmanship.

Rather than being a mechanical tweak, the new change is more of a visual effect for the character. The modification in Tracer’s Blink ability, which allows her to travel at superspeed, is expected to give her opponents a small edge. The altered visual effect is visible right before Tracer moves, and the tweak gives opponents an idea of which way she is going to be traveling.

While it doesn’t seem like a major change, dedicated Overwatch 2 gamers can take advantage of the tweak. The improved visual aid will allow them to track her movements and gain a split-second edge before she appears again to rain hellfire. The Overwatch 2 tweak will present players with a small window to attack her, just as she begins to move, by keeping an eye on the new effect that denotes her desired position or direction.
Since Tracer is one of Overwatch 2’s most popular characters, some hardcore fans are annoyed at losing their advantage. However, many have lauded the update, claiming this will vastly improve the character’s readability in-game. This has also brought joy to many, who were tired of locking horns against this character that, before the update, seemed to be teleporting without warning.
Despite being one of the characters that feature the lowest health, Tracer’s blink abilities were one of the major reasons behind her popularity. Players who loved choosing Tracer due to her ability to seemingly disappear smoothly from everyone’s sights will now have to rethink their strategies and reconsider the character.
